Comprehension/
Listening

Description: 

• Comprehension/Listening include things like answering "wh" questions, following directions, identifying the main idea and details, making conclusions, inferencing, predicting, comparing/contrasting, sequencing, and understanding vocabulary.

Activities:

• Read a short story or paragraph to your child and ask them "wh" questions about the story (i.e. Who is the main character? What is the setting? etc.).

• Have your child read a short text (i.e. from a book, from Razkids, etc.) and answer "wh" questions about the story.

• Give your child 1-2 steps directions using basic concepts (i.e. "First get a plate, then get a fork."  "Put your socks in the drawer and your shoes next to the dresser."  "Before you get in the shower, brush your teeth.").

• Have your child collect household items and sort these items into categories (i.e. fruit, toys, clothing, animals, etc.).

• Name a category for your child and have them find an object in your house that matches that category.
