PSA
We got this idea when we were walking to second period and we saw a student being verbally bullied in the hallway. I went to tell a teacher and decided this was the perfect situation to have a PSA on.
First we had to brainstorm possible segments we could do to inform students that it’s not okay to bully. We eventually decided on making a skit to show what to do whenever you see bullying in progress, or if it's happening to you.
Then, we planned a day to film, and found people to act as “bullies.” We asked our school's ISS teacher to be in the film to show what will happen if you are bullying another student.
Next we upload all the footage into Canva, and start editing and adding captions. Whenever we edited it, we made sure to add text to the videos to help you better understand what happens whenever you get bullied, and how you can take action if it occurs.
Finally, we add credits and finalized the edits we made and rewatched the whole thing a couple times. At the very end we upload these clips into google classroom so it can be put into a DCMS News Show episode.
The audience for our PSA is the DCMS staff and student body. The video is going to be seen by the teachers and students that watch the news show.
We were inspired to create this video by seeing someone getting verbally bullied in the hallway on the way to second period, and it made us realize that there needs to be a stop to this. No student at DCMS should ever have to tolerate that.
Our goal for our PSA video is to inform students that bullying is unacceptable. Words hurt, and no student should ever have to feel offended by another student.
We are proud of our message. We are trying to tell everyone at DCMS that bullying is NOT good. We want everyone to know that if they bully another student, there will be consequences, and you should never be the reason someone feels bad about themself.
A problem that we faced was timing. We worried we wouldn’t have enough time to film everything, and we had to find people to be in our video.
