Animation
I was partially inspired to do this by a play I had done in the past, where it brought about the magic of reading in a new way, where the characters came to life. However I wasn’t worried about bringing characters to life, I wanted to bring genres to life and to let whoever saw this animation remember the thoughts, feelings, and books that came from when they used to love these genres and stories. The other part was from the space that I was to do this project in, what better way to use a library than to make it my backdrop.
The program I used to put all of my pictures together was Canva, because it has more options and useful tools than others. I am also used to the ways I could edit and use the options it provided.
First we took the photos that needed to be taken. These were ordered by section of the books and genres. We took the pictures in order around the library. We started with science fiction, then fantasy, then across the library to mystery. After this was historical fiction, then a tie-in of comedy and thriller. The costumes for the jump cuts started with a lab chemist, then Harry Potter. And after this a detective girl holding an American girl doll, and a girl wrapped in a blanket.
Then we, put them into Canva. Putting in the pictures meant a lot of downloading for me! After this I had to change the sizes and make each image fit the page. I had to do this on 2 different presentations because Canva has a 500 slide limit for projects. Once I finished organizing all of the pictures, I would have to merge the presentations together. And then I decided if I wanted sound effects or not, I did not.
Next we, edited the pictures. To do this I ran through the pictures to see which ones did not contribute the most to the finished animation. These ones were taken out. In fact I later decided to take out whole scenes! This was due to the fact that I was not expressing some of the emotions that I wanted to be made clearer in the film. The other factor was time restraints.
Finally we, use tools such as filters, and pictures, to add commercial attributes to the animation. Most of these were used during transitions. I wanted as much created bby me as possible so I would not lots of sources to site.
