For Robotics, I had to choose a CDA Project that I would enjoy doing for these past few months. I wanted my project to be informative about a growing problem in my community but had trouble finding one, so my teacher suggested chronic absenteeism. I chose that issue because I have seen first hand the negative effects of missing tons of school so I would like to educate everyone on the importance of going to school.
The research I did for my topic was to look at a school infographic for an elementary school and noticed that they did not go deeper into the many negative effects of chronic absenteeism. Then, I looked up certified websites that provided the data on academic performance and chronic absenteeism along with the social wellbeing of students who are absent. I made notes on a separate Google Doc and planned each key topic I wanted to hit in my infographic.
To design my infographic, I logged into Canva with my school account, created an infographic, and used the Arsenal Style in the design tab for my rough draft. I deleted the text and tried to add a title using TypeCraft, but realized I couldn’t really edit it after I clicked Add Design so I used a heading in the text tab instead. I made the heading Amsterdam Two and wrote Chronic Absenteeism after placing it at the top. I added a square shape to the top of the infographic and went to layers and sent it to the back after resizing it to make it fit. I then got the rounded square shape from the elements tab and made it longer. I placed it to the edge with enough space to display text but have a picture next to it. I then copied and pasted it throughout the infographic rotating between the left and right edges 5 times. I then started to write drafts of what each box should talk about without caring for grammar and added 1 related image next to that box to keep it entertaining. I went back to the boxes and started to fix the drafts and grammar. When the writing portion was done, I changed the font to Bryndan Write. I started to work on the colors by clicking the 1st box and going up to the rainbow/color circle, scrolled down to photo colors, clicked see all, and started to add color to each box based on what was the colors of the image next to them. I then went to the MyBib APA citation generator, copied and pasted the websites I used into the generator, then copied and pasted the citation to the infographic for the five websites I used.
I learned how to find the photo colors section so my infographic matches and looks nice which is also why I chose the colors. I prefer fall colors because of their warm tone so most of the boxes are in that style. I wanted to have it in a step by step format so the infographic would look full.
