The thing that inspired us to do this stop motion was a previous stop motion we have done which involved a wolverine and red hulk battle. We began this project by making a script. The script had a battle involving red hulk, carnage & agent venom.
The pictures we took were supposed to feel dramatic and action filled. We also wanted our pictures to feel alive and real - like you are really there watching a fight unfold. We also wanted to make it look like their actions were very precise and accurate to how they move in the comics.
The program we used to put together the images we took was canva. We used the web version because it is very high quality for editing images. We also already knew how to use it from past experiences.
First, we wrote a script accurate to how the fight would go in comics. We also used a green screen for the background and used a ring light for lighting up the background. We used a digital camera on a tripod for taking high quality up close pictures for the most accurate interpretation of the battle. We used a tripod so the shots would be steady.
Then, we got the camera on a tripod and found a good distance from the action figures to get the best shot of the action figures. To get the action figures to stand we used double sided tape on each of their feet. If we needed them to fall we used a fishing line to hold them up.
Next, we took pictures of the action figures and slightly moved their body parts in between each shot. We swapped hands out between shots so they would grab items we wanted them to use. We also gave them many different weapons and tools for the fight.
Finally we, took all the images and imported them into canva. Once we imported the pictures we resized all of them. We also made sure each picture was aligned so it wouldn’t appear that the images were jumping around too much. We also removed the background of every single image (that took forever!). Lastly we added in music that was already in canva.
The thing that inspired us to make this was a previous stop motion we did with a wolverine and red hulk action figures.
The goal of our stop motion animation is to make a really cool action packed animation.
The features that we used that we were most proud of was the digital camera because using a real camera instead of a phone made the pictures look better.
The problem that we faced was the action figures not standing up properly. We solved that problem by using double sided tape that was not visible on the camera so they would stand up.
If we had unlimited time, we would add more action packed scenes and touch up some scenes to make them more high quality.
