Darts Skit
Drakes Creek Middle School
Feature Video
We created a feature video about throwing darts. We created this feature video because we wanted to show students class expectations while also giving them an enjoyable segment to watch.
To begin we brainstormed what skit we wanted to share with our school that would be enjoyable to watch but also include important information. We decided to film a video about darts. We used this topic to share with students the insight of what happens behind the scenes of students in classrooms when they choose to not follow school rules.
Then, we started to film each clip. First, we filmed the student selling darts and other students buying them. Next, we filmed a student getting hit by a dart to show the danger they could cause. Finally, we filmed the students selling and throwing darts getting in trouble and sent to ISS (in school suspension).
We filmed this skit in the hallways and the ISS room. We also included a scene in the library. At the beginning of each clip, we had to make sure our mics and iPad were working just right. We filmed at different angles to make sure we could include everything in the video.
Next, we got all of our video clips and uploaded them into Canva. We edited the parts out that we didn’t need. Also we put all of the clips in the correct order so the video would tell a story. Fortunately we did not have to re-record any of our video clips!
Finally, we added a bell sound effect for when class “dismissed.” We also added some fun music to the intro and outro. Both of these music clips and our sound effect came from Canva. We also used three different clip art darts from Canva.
The audience for our feature video is the DCMS staff and student body. The video played on our school news show was to show students and teachers our class expectations.
The purpose of our feature video was to show students that throwing darts can result in a heavy consequence, and it can possibly result in injuries.
A problem we encountered was getting the darts stuck in the ceiling when we were filming. We got chairs from the library and got the darts down safely.
What we enjoyed most about creating this feature video was working together with open minds to create the most funny parts of the skit.
