Student notices...released every Monday.
Only students with library passes are permitted to use the library at break and lunchtimes. Recently, we have noticed a number of students without passes using the space, which is not fair on those who applied for and were issued passes at the beginning of the academic year.
To help us keep the library running smoothly for everyone, we will be checking passes regularly, so please make sure you have yours with you.
If you have previously been issued a library pass but have misplaced it, please email lrc@wardenpark.co.uk
with your full name and tutor group, and we will be happy to check your application.
If you do not currently have a library pass but would like one, you will be able to apply at the start of the summer term. The application link will be shared in Student Notices at that time.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping the library a calm and welcoming space for all.
Mrs Targett
Further to my message on Monday, you can now see the changes to some of your lessons that you have within your tutor group. This has affected some year 7 classes only.
Year 7 mixed blocks affected:
7AF2, 7AM1, 7AM2, 7AS1, 7AS2, 7EU1, 7EU2, 7OC1, 7OC2
What you need to know:
For most subjects, only the lesson times or days may change.
There are some teacher changes to Geography, Character in Action (CiA) and Learning About Life (LaL).
These changes will take effect from Monday 19 January. Any homework deadlines will be adjusted.
What are the changes?
Click here to see the summary of periods affected, you will need to find your tutor group only.
There will also be room changes in some instances, so please check your timetables from Monday! Please dispose of any existing paper copies or screenshots of your old timetables that you may have.
You will see the changes on Go 4 schools from tomorrow.
Ms Fitzgerald
I want to let you know about an upcoming change to the Key Stage 3 timetable.
Due to some staffing changes, I have needed to reorganise parts of the mixed block timetable. For some of you, this means that the order of your lessons during the week may change, but most subjects will remain the same. These changes only affect lessons that you have within your tutor group.
Year 7 mixed blocks affected:
7AF2, 7AM1, 7AM2, 7AS1, 7AS2, 7EU1, 7EU2, 7OC1, 7OC2

There are some teacher changes to Geography, Character in Action (CiA) and Learning About Life (LaL).
These changes will take effect from Monday 19 January. Any homework deadlines will be adjusted.
What happens next?
I am working through the details and finalising the list of changes. I will add them here later in the week when they are ready.
Your tutor will go through the changes with you once everything is confirmed, so you will know exactly where to be and when. Your timetables will then update over the weekend.
Thank you for your patience while I make these changes.
Ms Fitzgerald
Year 7, get ready! Starting the week of January 19th, 2026, you will be taking part in an exciting mock trial workshop hosted by 'All Rise'. This is your chance to step into the courtroom and play an essential role—whether you are a Barrister, a Witness like Goldilocks or Papa Bear, a Court Official, or a member of the Jury.
When and Where is your Workshop?
Each workshop lasts 2.5 lessons. Please check the schedule here for your tutor group’s assigned day and room.
Important Preparation:
Know your role: Make sure you have been assigned a role in tutor time.
Study your documents: Barristers and Witnesses must be familiar with their statements, speeches, and the case summary.
I hope you enjoy it!
Ms Easton
Exciting news! Planning for Character Enrichment Week in July is well underway and it is time for you to start considering the day trips that you would like to go on. Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th July will be normal school days (unless you are on an international trip). The day trips will take place on Wednesday 8th to Friday 10th July (3 days).
Your parents/carers have been sent the information about the day trips and how to sign you up on Friday last week via email. Please ask them to check their email so that you do not miss out!
To secure your place on a day trip, a Google Form AND the full payment for the trip(s) must be completed by 1st March. Your parents/carers must complete BOTH of these steps (completing the form and making the payment) to secure your place on a day trip. If only one step is completed, you will NOT have secured a place on the trip.
It is not possible to change your selections once your form has been submitted. It is essential you review the trips carefully and speak to your parents/carers about what you would like to do. Check what your friends are signing up for as you cannot chop and change your choices once you have submitted your Google Form.
If you do not want to attend any day trips, you do not have to. You can choose to do in-school activities instead. Just select this option when you complete the form with your parents/carers. The in-school activities will be advertised after Easter.
TODAY'S TUTOR TIME TASK:
Start thinking about what trips you would like to go on by visiting the relevant pages below. You should not complete the Google Form today. You need your parents/carers to do this with you and you have until the 1st March to complete the form. It is not first come first served so even if you do it in late February you will still have as much chance as someone who completes it tonight with their parents/carers.
Ms Wheeler
You will now have your new Technology lessons on your timetable for this term. In some cases whilst your project will change you may keep the same teacher. Enjoy your new projects! Be sure to check if you have a new room ahead of your lesson!
Ms Fitzgerald.
Enjoyment of school forms a vital part of you wanting to come in, engage with lessons and ultimately, succeed when you take your GCSEs and move on.
We would like to know a bit more about how much you enjoy / have enjoyed school over the years, and also what could make it even better. Please complete the questions below to help us with this.
Mr Atwell.
£20 Challenge Update: The Empire Building Begins!
The Business and Enterprise Department is thrilled to announce the successful selection of the first winner of the £20 Challenge!
This winning team has already started work on building their business empire. More details about this team and their exciting venture will follow soon!
We received a phenomenal 58 fully formed well designed business plans some with large teams of students working collaboratively on each one — a massive congratulations to everyone who demonstrated their entrepreneurial spirit and submitted an entry!
From this strong field, we simply couldn't ignore three other outstanding business proposals that also made a very strong case for the investment.
We have therefore decided to narrow the competition down to 3 more top proposals and are now exploring the exciting idea of extending the investment to two businesses instead of just one!
To help us make the final decision between these three other proposals, we are now looking for a "proof of concept" from these contenders to showcase an example of their products. This has now been requested so theses teams know who they are!!
Once product samples have been handed in; focus groups and feedback sessions will be organized in order to gather the final data needed to make a decision so stay tuned for the announcement of a potential second investment opportunity and the final winning business (or businesses) of the £20 Challenge 2025/26!!!
Thank you, Business and Enterprise Dept.
Temporary Library Closure - Thursday 11 December
The Library will be closed for Break and Lunch 1 on Thursday due to Year 11 Mock Interviews taking place. Apologies for the inconvenience. Mrs Targett.
Challenge And Think Hard In Your Lessons
In October, you completed a google form about how you felt challenged on your lessons. I would like to ask you this again now that you have almost completed a term of lessons. Have the lessons been more challenging since the start of Year 7? Thank you for completing the short form here. Mrs Moore
Exciting News! A School Trip For Year 7!
Get ready for an exciting trip in June 2026! You will all be going to see Hercules: The Musical in London – a fantastic opportunity to experience a West End show together. You do not need to sign up, as attendance is expected for everyone. Your parents and carers were informed about the trip by email last Friday.
The visit will take place during the school day, although you will return to school at approximately 7.00pm. All the information you need is available here on this webpage. Remember, you have this website saved on your iPad, so you can access the page at any time.
You will attend the trip with your tutor group. Please ensure you bring a packed lunch (a lunch will be provided if you receive free school meals), plenty of water, and that you are wearing full school uniform.
Check out the trailer to the right/below!
We asked you to come up with a brilliant business idea using £20 investment from us (which we managed to find down the back of the sofa in the staff room) and you didn't just meet the challenge — you practically launched a mini-startup frenzy!
Over 50 fantastic business ideas have landed on our desks, most with large groups of students involved in each team. We hope your first board meetings didn't end in arguments over who gets to keep the profits!!!
Now our hard work begins...The Business Department will be locking themselves in a room, fuelled by questionable snacks, to meticulously sort through all your incredible submissions and select the final, ultimate winner!
Stay tuned—you'll hear from us soon! (And yes, we'll try to stop ourselves from stealing your ideas and getting rich :))
Good luck!
The Business Department
You may recall an earlier message this year where I explained that it is sometimes necessary to make timetable changes to ensure we can keep the very best teachers in classes. This usually occurs as a result of longer-term teacher absence. I am pleased to say that the teacher who was absent has now returned, and the timetable changes made back in September can now revert to their original form.
The affected tutor groups are listed below.
7AF1 & 7EU1: These were the changes I announced earlier in the year that were due to revert after October half term. You can see the changes summarised here.
These changes take effect from next Monday. The updated lessons will already be visible on Go 4 Schools if you click into next week. Please destroy or delete any existing screenshots or paper copies of your timetable. Remember, you can always access the most up-to-date version by checking your calendar or Go 4 Schools on your iPad.
Ms Fitzgerald.
A few updates about break and lunch as the fields are now closed for the winter months:
Football can still be played, but only on the courts. Please remember that only students playing football should be on the courts.
Year 7 – you’ll use the left-hand side of the courts. (Car park side)
Year 8 – you’ll use the right-hand side. (Field side)
Stay within your year group areas so everyone can enjoy their break safely.
The Assembly Hall is a calm space – no running or playfighting. Avoid any rough play behaviour logs!
Fast passes will be out this week. Remember to follow the Fast Pass queue system.
If you’re unsure how it works, you can watch the short video linked to the right.
The stairway behind the Assembly Hall must remain clear at all times. It is not for students to gather. There should be no gathering on the stairs behind the hall under any circumstances.
The pathway to the courts is to be used only to access the courts. The grass area immediately outside the Assembly Hall is now out of bounds.
Keep your hands to yourself – any rough play (pushing, bumping, playfighting, etc.) will result in a red 'rough play' log.
Please don’t gather in the foyer or corridor areas. Stay either in the hall, the canopy areas or the courts.
Let’s all make sure break and lunch are safe, calm, and enjoyable for everyone.
Ms Fitzgerald.
Temporary Library Closure
Unfortunately the Library will be closed for the whole week commencing Monday 3 November, this is due to MFL mock exams taking place. Apologies for the inconvenience this causes.
Homework Starts This Week!
We hope you had a great half term and well deserved rest. I am sure you will be excited that homework starts this week. To ease you in, we will start with just English, Maths and Science, followed by your other subjects from November 24th. Homework will be set on Go4Schools, with a clear due date. It is also likely to be in your Google Classroom. Do keep an eye on deadlines as you are likely to be logged if you do not complete it on time.
A few tips;
- Put aside a regular time every evening to complete your Homework
- Don't leave it all until the last minute!
- Find a quiet, organised space to work in, and make your family aware when you are working
- If you are finding things difficult, do speak to your teacher to ask for help
Thanks, Mr Atwell
On Monday 20th October, all students in Year 7 will be taking part in a Big Sing event in the Assembly Hall.
At the start of period 2, you will go to your lesson as normal. After the starter activities in class, your teacher will take you all to the assembly hall where the Big Sing will take place.
We will be working on our 'mash ups' from lessons, singing them together as a year group.
Make sure you come to school ready to sing!
Mr Bayliss.
Unfortunately over the last week there are a few year 7 students who have received a red log for rough play. This is a reminder about avoiding rough play…
It is very important that everybody stays safe in school. This is why we have strict rules about rough play.
What is rough play?
Rough play includes grabbing, holding, pushing, hitting and touching other students.
Why are we so strict about rough play?
Even when people are only playing there is still a danger of somebody getting hurt.
What can happen if I am involved in rough play?
You, or other students, might get hurt. You will receive a red log from the staff who are on duty.
Remember - there are no longer any warnings given about rough play logs. If you are involved in rough play you will receive a red log straight away.
Please stay safe and avoid getting involved in rough play!
We are delighted to announce that we are looking to run an 'Arts and Crafts Club' on a Tuesday from 3.10-4.10pm. The club will begin on Tuesday 4th November (after October half term) and will run for 10 weeks (10 sessions). The club is to be run by an outside organisation called 'The Creation Station' and therefore there is a small cost for this club.
If you would like to see a breakdown of what you would be learning each week, please see these slides here or pictured. You will study a different artist each week and will be able to experiment with fabric, sewing, drawing, painting, clay and much more!
If you would like to be part of this club, please complete this form here now. Your parents will need to pay for you to attend so I will be in contact with them to check that they are willing to do so.
Miss Wheeler
The cost of the club for Non Pupil Premium funded students is £80 for 10 sessions- £8 per session. The cost for Students for whom we receive Pupil Premium funding for is £40- £4 per session. You must sign up to all 10 sessions.
A gentle reminder: please ensure that your parents/carers sign up for residential trips by this Wednesday.
To see the highlights from Deers Leap during last year's enrichment week, watch the video!
Please note that there will not be a Thorpe Park day trip offered this year. If you were considering saying no to a residential in order to attend Thorpe Park instead, you may wish to reconsider.
For full details about our residential trips, please see the Enrichment Trips App on your iPads.
Ms Wheeler.
Year 7 will attend a Stand Against Violence Anti-Bullying workshop on Monday 6th October during Period 1.
Please sit in your tutor groups in register order. Staff will meet you there and complete the register.
Ms Easton.
On Monday 29th September, Sussex Safer Roads will be joining us for a Road Safety assembly in Period 1. Please go directly to the Assembly Hall at the start of Period 1 instead of your usual class. Your class teacher will meet you there.
Be sure to sit in your tutor group, IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, as indicated in the picture.
So that we can check in on you and celebrate how well you have settled, but also respond if you have any concerns, this week in tutor time you will complete a short questionnaire about your first few weeks. be sure to provide as much detail as possible. Mr Atwell.
It is often necessary to make some timetable changes throughout the year to ensure that we are able to keep the very best teachers in classes. This usually happens as a result of longer-term teacher absence.
For some tutor groups, this has meant staffing and timetable changes. This could mean that a teacher has changed or that the placement of a lesson has moved. In Year 7, the affected tutor groups are listed below.
7AS2: The changes made today are permanent.
7AF1 & 7EU1: The changes are expected to be temporary and should revert after October half term.
The changes are summarised here.
These changes take effect from today. Please destroy/delete any existing screenshots or paper copies of your timetable. Remember, you can always access the most up-to-date version by checking your calendar or Go 4 Schools on your iPad.
Ms Fitzgerald.
Please complete this form here to let us know which club/s you are going to try this autumn term (before Xmas).
It has been great to spend time getting to know you are break / lunch. Here are a few reminders regarding our expectations during these times;
Please remember to hang up your bags when you use the assembly hall at break / lunch - leaving them on the floor can lead to bags getting wet or the contents, including iPads, getting damaged - this can end up being very expensive. There are new hooks closer to the tennis courts - please use these if the other ones are full.
Please remember also that you can eat packed lunches and 'grab and go' food in the outside eating areas. If you are buying the main meal on a plate, it must stay in the assembly hall.
iPads should not be out at break / lunch - we encourage you to speak to your friends or play sport.
Rough play - please do not touch other students, if you get involved in rough play by touching, pushing, grabbing other students you risk a red log.
Uniform - please remember to ensure your uniform is perfect at all times - top buttons done up, shirts tucked in, ties done up correctly. Shirts may become untucked while you are playing sport but after that please put it right before leaving the field / courts.
Thank you, Mr Atwell
Please be aware that trips are being launched in assemblies this week. If you are not present in an assembly, you will miss the launch of the trip. To ensure you have all the details, please make sure that you and your parents/carers read the newsletter this Friday, as it will include information about all the trips being launched this week.
As a guide:
Year 7 will have a residential
Year 8 will have a residential to PGL in Liddington.
Year 9 will have the opportunity to go to Amsterdam, France, or Spain (MFL trips are for MFL students only), or Poland.
If you are not in assembly for any reason, please make sure your parents/carers read the newsletter, which will be emailed out as usual this Friday, so you do not miss out on these opportunities.
Thank you,
Ms Wheeler
Year 7 – congratulations on making it to your lessons and for being so confident when asking for help. Here are a few reminders and actions now that you have your iPads:
Paper copies: As we are a large school, we often have room changes and, on occasion, a staffing or period change. It is therefore important that we are always using the most up-to-date timetables. Your online timetables are available in two places – either via Go4Schools or through the Calendar app on your iPad.
It is now time to move away from paper copies and begin using the online versions. There have already been some room changes, so please check your timetable each day using either Go4Schools or the Calendar. I’m aware there are still a few students whose calendars have not yet synced – I’m working on this, so please bear with me.
🆘Helpful hint: When asking an adult in the building for help finding your next lesson, it’s important to say the room you’re trying to find rather than just the subject, as lessons can often be in different parts of the building.
Have a great week!
Ms Fitzgerald😀
Every Monday, students at Warden Park have time in tutor to view their notices for the week. (If you have assembly on Mondays, then you will do this on Tuesday instead.) This helps everyone stay in touch with what is going on, and it is one of your responsibilities. Students have a link on their iPad and also receive an email from me every Monday morning with the link.
If you are absent on a Monday (or Tuesday), it is still important that you find some time to catch up on the notices. This way, you won’t miss out on any opportunities.
There are also some other useful pages that students are expected to use and check regularly. As you get to know Warden Park, take some time to explore the following:
Menus: Find the menus for the week on the Parkes page.
Map: A handy tool as you navigate your way around. Click here for the Maps page.
Rooming: Due to weekly events, there are often temporary room changes. Your teachers may also post these on Google Classroom, but students are expected to check each week if they have any temporary changes. This is available on the Rooming page.
If there’s a particular page you think would be useful, I am always keen to hear student feedback on how we can make things better. Get in touch with me at kfitzgerald@wardenpark.co.uk.
Ms Fitzgerald.
Your tutor will now HIGHLIGHT all of the clubs available for this Autumn term (up until Xmas holidays). We would like all students to attend a school club this year.
If you are in Year 7, it expected that you will try (by going at least twice) at least one club before the Christmas Holidays. If you try and a club and you do not like it, you do not have to keep going! Feel free to try another club instead. If there is something stopping you attending a club, please let your tutor know; they may be able to help you overcome whatever the barrier is so that you can attend.
In next week's student notices, we will be asking you to complete a short google form to let us know which club you plan to try (by going at least twice). Use this week to speak to your parents/carers to see which club you might be able to attend. Perhaps you could buddy up with a friend and go together?
When you do attend a club, it is important that you sign in, using the QR code the teacher will display. This helps us to know where students are after school.
Ms Wheeler.

The Library and Student Futures Hub will be open to students in Years 7 & 8 at break and lunch. To access the library, you must have a library pass. If you would like to become a member of the Library & Futures Hub and use the space during break and lunchtimes, please complete the application form below, be sure to include all of the required information.
Access to the Library/Futures Hub will be based on student demand, so we’ll let you know the specific days and times you can use the space once we have an idea of numbers. This is to ensure it remains a quiet environment, with a maximum of 30 seated students at any given time.
You will receive a membership card, which must be shown upon arrival. Please note that this card may be revoked if the behaviour policy is not followed. The space is reserved for students who wish to read, study, do homework, or play quiet card or board games. If your actions disturb others, you may be asked to leave.
