Just a reminder that you should all be well on the way to securing your Work Experience placement for 6–10 July.
Please remember to add your placement to Unifrog as soon as it is confirmed. If you have not yet found a placement, make sure you are sending out plenty of applications and following up on any you have already sent.
I will be visiting tutor groups soon to check on your progress and to tell you more about the tutor group prizes 👀✨
Mrs Targett
We have noticed an increasing number of students gathering in the area outside PE and below the snack shack, outside the dining hall.
Please remember that this area is out of bounds for socialising. You may only use this space to access the toilets (break only) or water fountains during break and lunch, and then move on straight away. This also includes the area outside the studio by the steps.
Students should not gather in this area at any time. Duty staff will be monitoring the space and will ask students to move on if necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep the area clear. Ms Fitzgerald.
Your scheduled vaccinations are taking place today. A member of staff will come and collect you from your lesson at the correct time if your parent or carer has already given consent.
While you are waiting:
Please remain quiet and respectful of others.
Follow staff instructions carefully.
Once you have had your vaccination, please return to your lesson promptly.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Mock examinations will take place in school from Tuesday 3rd March (after half term).
A copy of the Year 10 Mock Exam Timetable can be found here: Year 10 Mock Timetable. You will also receive an individual timetable closer to the time.
You should now begin thinking about how to prepare effectively for your mock exams. To support this, we will be running a Revision Week in school during the week commencing 3rd February. During this time, all departments will focus on helping students to use their Personalised Learning Checklists (PLCs), develop effective revision skills, and improve exam technique.
In addition, you will attend a revision assembly, and later in the term an external company will visit the school to provide further support. You also have access to the KS4 Website, which includes useful information, resources, and guidance to support you throughout the remainder of you time at school.
In preparation, please consider the following;
1. Creating a revision timetable: Create a revision timetable, starting by adding any clubs or social commitments. Templates can be found on this page of the KS4 website.
2. Deciding what to revise: You now have a PLC for each subject, which lists all topics covered. Most subjects will let you know which topics to focus your revision on for the mock exam - begin revising the areas you find most challenging.
3. How to revise effectively: Revision looks different for every student, so it is important that you use this time to try different approaches and discover what works best for you, ahead of future mocks and the summer exams next year. To keep things manageable, we recommend the following three key revision strategies:
Mind maps
Flashcards
Low-stakes quizzing (including the use of past exam questions)
We are with you all the way, please do speak to your teachers or community teams if you have any concerns or want advice.

£20 Challenge Update: The Empire Building Begins!
The Business and Enterprise Department is thrilled to announce the successful selection of the first winner of the £20 Challenge!
This winning team has already started work on building their business empire. More details about this team and their exciting venture will follow soon!
We received a phenomenal 58 fully formed well designed business plans some with large teams of students working collaboratively on each one — a massive congratulations to everyone who demonstrated their entrepreneurial spirit and submitted an entry!
From this strong field, we simply couldn't ignore three other outstanding business proposals that also made a very strong case for the investment.
We have therefore decided to narrow the competition down to 3 more top proposals and are now exploring the exciting idea of extending the investment to two businesses instead of just one!
To help us make the final decision between these three other proposals, we are now looking for a "proof of concept" from these contenders to showcase an example of their products. This has now been requested so theses teams know who they are!!
Once product samples have been handed in; focus groups and feedback sessions will be organized in order to gather the final data needed to make a decision so stay tuned for the announcement of a potential second investment opportunity and the final winning business (or businesses) of the £20 Challenge 2025/26!!!
Thank you, Business and Enterprise Dept.
Please complete this 4 minute survey here. This survey aims to collect student voice on the directed study period that has recently been introduced to the Year 10 tutor program. Thank you in advance for your feedback which is invaluable at helping us to improve our curriculum for you.
Thank you, Ms Wheeler.
We are now inviting applications for the Senior Team for next year, taking over from the current team after Easter as they focus on their GCSEs. This is an excellent opportunity for those of you who are motivated, responsible, and keen to make a positive impact on our school community.
As a Senior Team member, your responsibilities will include:
Representing the school at key events, occasions and via social media
Liaising with Mr Atwell and other staff to help drive whole-school improvements
Leading Student Voice meetings and gathering feedback from your peers
Presenting ideas and updates to the Senior Leadership Team
Being part of the Senior Team offers many benefits, including:
Developing leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Gaining valuable experience that strengthens college, sixth form, and job applications
Building confidence through public speaking and teamwork
Making meaningful changes that improve school life for everyone
If you are committed, enthusiastic, and ready to take on a challenge, we strongly encourage you to apply. I will be speaking to you on Wednesday in assembly, however if you would like to start thinking about your application in advance of this, the application asks the following; why you think you would be a worthy candidate and your vision for the role. We also ask you to specify if you wish to be considered for Head Student or just the Senior Team.
When you are ready, please submit your application via the form below, no later than 9am on Wednesday 17th December. If you are successful in your application, you will be invited to interview in January, and then to present in assembly if you make it to the final round.
If you have any questions about any part of the process please do not hesitate to contact Mr Atwell who will be happy to answer your questions. Best of luck!
We look forward to seeing your applications!

Today you will attend an assembly during Period 2 led by The Naked Truth Project (also known as NT). The session will focus on pornography education, looking at how online content can influence the way young people think about relationships and behaviour.
Who are The Naked Truth Project?
NT is a UK charity that works with schools across the country. Their team delivers sessions that are age-appropriate, informative and non-judgemental, using videos, stories, interactive activities and research to help students think clearly and confidently about the topic.
What will the session cover?
The assembly is titled “Porn: What’s the Big Deal?”. It will explore:
How pornography can give unrealistic or unhealthy ideas about relationships.
How it can affect mental wellbeing, confidence, expectations and body image.
The wider issues in the porn industry, including exploitation.
How to think critically about what you see online, understand consent, and know where to get help if you ever feel unsure or concerned.
Why are we doing this?
As part of Relationships & Sex education and our wider curriculum, we want to support you in understanding healthy relationships, consent and online safety. This assembly is designed to give you helpful information and space to think.
Anything else to know?
The assembly will be delivered by trained NT educators, not your usual teachers.
The content is designed to be respectful, supportive and appropriate for your age group.
A separate notice has gone to parents/carers with additional information.
If you have any worries or questions before or after the session, please speak to your Tutor, Community Team, or any trusted adult in school.

Just a quick reminder to any students who will be on foreign residentials during Work Experience Week (6–10 July) that we still strongly recommend sourcing a Work Experience placement during the summer holidays. This will be your opportunity to experience a workplace and strengthen your future applications and CV. It will almost certainly be quieter at that time, with more opportunities available. All the information you need can be found on your Tutor Google Classroom.

Your tutor will now read through all of the clubs available for this Autumn term (up until Xmas holidays). We would like all students to attend a school club this year. Remember that attending clubs is not just an opportunity to make new friends but is also valid experience to write about on college applications and to talk about at college interviews. Which one will you try? Click the links below to review what's on offer!

Year 11 VIP Area at lunch 1: We are pleased to announce that during Lunch 1 the mezzanine area will be solely available to Year 11 students. We are awaiting some new furniture, but we want this space to be enjoyed as a privilege for our senior students. It is important that the very highest standards of behaviour are displayed, as students may be asked to leave the area if these expectations are not met.
Note, break and during lunch 2, the mezzanine is a quiet space. Students seated up here must be quiet to enable others students to enjoy their lunch in this area.
Bags in the Dining Hall: To ensure the dining hall is more comfortable for everyone, bags are not permitted at break or lunch. The only exception will be in cases of extreme adverse weather, and staff will advise you when this applies. This will help avoid bags becoming wet from heavy rain.
Queues: Please ensure you do not block the main entryways when queueing for Parkes. Wait for staff to tell you when to move forward or enter the servery area.
At lunchtime, please note:
Hot meals (street food) are served on the left.
Deli (grab and go) is served on the right.
Please choose the most appropriate queue for your selection.
The Quiet Space during Lunch 1 is open from today. Please remember it is a quiet space – you must sign in using the QR code, and board games are available. The rooms can be found here. Be sure to look at Week B for today!
Finally, the water fountains for Key Stage 4 are located just outside the entrance to the toilets by Ferguson.
