Tuesday 5th May

Read the story 'Clark the Shark'. Get someone in your family to ask you these questions to check your understanding of the story.

Comprehension Questions:

What was the name of Clark's school?

Who was Clark's best friend?

What game did Clark play with his friends?

Why did Clark sometimes have a hard time following the rules at school?

How did Clark remember to "stay cool" at school?

WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY

Read the story 'The Bravest Fish'

See if you can answer the following questions about the story:

Comprehension Questions:

Who did Stanley meet first when looking for his friends?

How did Stanley get away from the shark?

Did you hear or see any adjectives (describing words)? What were they?

Could you see any speech marks/talking marks? What do they mean?

Fun activity - Stanley keeps saying "Jumping Jellyfish". Can you make up any other sayings that start with the same sound? E.g. hungry hippo, flying fish..

thursday 7th May

Read the story 'Snappsy the Alligator'

Comprehension questions to ask:

When it says he "shimmied through the forest", what does that mean? How did he move through the forest?

What did Snappsy put into his basket that started with a 'p'?

Why did Snappsy slam the door of his house?

What did they do at the party?

Fun activity - Draw a picture of all the foods that you can think of that start with the letter 'p'.

Friday 8th may

All our books this week have been about animals that love the water, can you find another book at home with a sea creature?

See if you can find a story to read at home that has an underwater animal in it.

After reading it, do a retell, retell the story using your own words, remembering all the main events, in the correct order. Retell it out-loud to someone at home or write it down.

Send me a picture/drawing of your book and tell me about your story you found at home.
