Work Base Learning (WBL)

Work Base Learning (WBL)

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is where students are provided with real-life work experiences. Students can apply academic and technical skills and develop their employability. Work-Based Learning can take place in the classroom or the career sector.

AB 130 - Fingerprinting

Due to Assembly Bill (AB) 130 VVUHSD has paused all Job Shadow and Internship student placements.  VVUHSD will continue efforts to build Simulated Pathway Internships (sWBL).

Simulated Pathway Internships (sWBL)

VVUSD has adopted the West Virginia Simulated Workplace curriculum to offer sWBL opportunities on campus taught by our own CTE teachers. The student must be a completer of a CTE Pathway and enrolled in high school. The class is most likely offered as a zero or seventh period.

Internships - paused

CTE Internship Programs enable students to extend the classroom into a workplace setting wherein they can learn business and industry standards and practices, work readiness skills, and the application of academics within their chosen field. Internships are aligned with CTE programs currently offered at VVUHSD and are developed in collaboration with CTE teachers, employers/mentors, and the CTE Coordinator.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Internship

Job Shadows - paused

Job shadowing involves students spending time following a professional as they work. By observing the professional for anywhere from a few hours to several weeks, students can get a better understanding of their particular pathway. Versus an Internship where students work, typically non-paid, for a few weeks in a particular pathway.
