Prepare necessary documents for grants.
"Advisories provide the opportunity for students, educators, and industry to align and benefit one another through discussion about how to build and sustain innovative programs, how to ensure educational content is on target with industry needs, and how other regional industry partners can align resources and provide solutions to common hurdles and barriers. Through collaboration between local colleges and K12, advisories also serve as the time to add and renew articulation agreements". (MDCP)

Attendance is Required:
All CTE teachers must attend their Advisory meetings. Grant funding cannot be used for your program if you do not participate.
Industry Representation:
You are required to bring at least one industry partner to your meeting. (We recommend inviting several to strengthen connections and ensure attendance.)
Parent & Student Involvement:
When hosting an Advisory, please invite at least one parent and one student—this can include a family member or your CTSO President/Leader.
Large Purchases:
Any significant purchases must be discussed during your Advisory and documented in the meeting minutes.
Advisory Alignment:
Attend the Advisory that aligns with your articulated pathway at Victor Valley College (VVC). Some teachers may need to attend more than one meeting based on their course offerings.
Are we spending Grant funds with a local business? The CTE Office will help you reach out to those businesses and we’ll work together.
Do YOU have family and friends in the Industry? Call in a favor :)
Ask YOUR students. Your students might have parents, family, or friends in the industry. This could be the reason why they choose to take your course.
Knock on business doors; bring donuts.
If you were to tour a local business (field trip), where would you go? Ask them :)
Who are your Guest Speakers? Bring Industry into your classroom. Keep talking points and a few student notes and questions for evidence.
