Teaching Tips: Planning courses and assignments

A great resource on learning how to design a Course is the Course: Don't Panic! The Professor's Guide to Great Teaching

This course was designed by a team lead by Bruce Kelley, Ph. D. of University of South Dakota.

The course was designed to help you design interesting, engaging courses that provide your students with opportunities for truly significant learning.  In this four-week journey, you will develop significant learning goals for your students, will learn about and apply authentic assessment practices, and will explore various types of active learning exercises.  We conclude by examining how to structure these activities into a course timeline.

Though the course is  not actively running, it gives you an idea of setting up a course. You are asked de design or redesign the basic structure for a class, and will critically analyze both your course and those of your peers.  Tteaching is an incredibly complex process, and our ability to learn from and help each other is critical to becoming even better teachers.
