The department owns two trucks:
2020 Chevrolet
1992 Chevrolet
The trucks are parked outside of the Harris Lab doors (in the construction area) near the dumpsters.
In compliance with Policy 5500: State Vehicle Management, the Finance and Administration team secures an FS-2 form for each employee who may drive the truck.
Employees of the department may reserve the truck for business-related travel needs on and off campus.
The truck keys are secured in the Harris Lab (Whittemore 174).
Please see Scott Lancaster for the key lock box code (and to complete the FS-2 if you have not done so already).
The key should be returned at the end of each use and the key holder is responsible for the truck during their possession.
Mileage should be recorded in the usage log located in the front seat of each truck before and after each use. Users should physically examine the truck before and after each use (i.e. for visible signs of damage and such). Mileage records will remain in each truck.
Before:
Check the truck before use for cleanliness. If there is an issue, contact Scott Lancaster, (scottl16@vt.edu) immediately. Otherwise, your unit will be responsible for cleaning services and fees.
No cell phone use by driver.
Do not smoke in the vehicle.
Do not consume food in the vehicle.
Do not consume alcohol in the vehicle or before driving.
After:
Refill gas if at half tank (or less) before parking the truck. Gas pumps are located at Fleet Services with instructions on how to fill gas tank. Receipts should be placed in the zipper pouch of the red mileage log located in the truck.
Park in any Faculty Staff, Graduate, or Commuter space. Do NOT park in DMV disabled parking spot, meters, or charging spaces parking.
Clean/tidy the truck (i.e. remove trash, vacuum if needed, exterior washed if mud covered, etc.)
Ask for a copy of your FS2 signed use agreement for formal reminders if needed.
Any mechanical (or other issues) report to Scott Lancaster (scottl16@vt.edu) immediately so he can coordinate repairs.
