PBL Exhibition Reflection
Every year, we have a main goal or as we like to call it; a driving question. This year’s driving question was “How can we make the world a better place?”. Our group did this by improving sidewalks, our chosen community. Now how did we improve sidewalks you might ask? Well, we used multiple ideas from areas around the world such as raised crosswalks and intersections. This could help the cars and motorcycles of Taiwan follow the traffic laws more diligently compared to how they are right now with Taiwan’s roads being called a “traffic hell”. We also improved the design of sidewalks and parking spaces for motorcycles. If you ever walked on the sidewalks of Taiwan, you might have noticed that motorcycles would drive on the sidewalk to get onto the road. Our new design provides more space for pedestrians to walk with larger sidewalks and also makes the motorcycles’ parking spaces more accessible to the road. In my opinion, our final project answered the driving question beautifully as it fixed a common problem that many people had with simple and not over-expensive solutions. The most important thing that I learnt this semester was to keep pushing through and try your best no matter what happens. If I did this project again, I would probably try improving the models and do a better paint job. We only realized that we had to repaint it at the last second and the models came out kind of rushed. Our biggest challenge was probably making the posters as it was boring and no one wanted to do it. We overcame this by as I said before, pushing through and trying our best no matter what happened. This project taught me a lot from how to have better time management to managing work if my teammates weren’t pulling their weight.
