While filming prescreens can be challenging, dance videos are arguably more so. You need to have a large open space, preferably without too much distracting stuff in the background, where you can move and still be seen by the camera. As someone living in a very small house where there was no space for me to dance, I had to get really creative. One alternative I’ve found is renting out rooms at a local gym. Depending on how busy the gym is, there’s a rate you pay per day and you can rent out a big space (sometimes with a mirror which can be really helpful) that you can use to film all your dance videos at once so you can have plenty of time and space to do your thing.
Another answer was asking my theatre teacher if I could use the theater we perform in as a big space to dance in. This is difficult to time because sometimes teachers need to stay after school with you if you do it then, so finding the right time is key. Usually, lunch is a good time to film. This is good if you don’t want to pay money and you have access to a clean space.
Here's a picture of me filming the movement video I had to submit to UMich for their acting program. They asked me to do 30 seconds of falling and 30 seconds of tossing and catching a ball. Definitely the strangest thing I was asked to do, I can tell you that. My space wasn't exactly clean just because we were in the process of clearing out the place I was filming in, but at any other point in the year this would have been the perfect space.
