Language Classes
YoGoTe signs are used as teaching and learning tools for foreign language lesson production.
First of all, the student has to observe the lessons in his own language, and when he is sufficiently familiar with the signs and gestures and their meaning, the next step is to go to the same lesson in the desired language. There, the signs are a means of understanding the meaning of what is said in this new language.
It is possible and interesting to learn in groups, so that students can interact with each other, speaking in the new language, using gestures if necessary to ensure minimal communication so that interactions can continue.
The best way to use this method is by establishing a "reciprocal learning pair", where two or more people in country A, who want to learn a language B, get in contact with people in a country where this language is spoken. B and that they want to learn the language of A. Due to the fact that the lessons have the same structure for all languages, and that the signs are the same, the group in country A will be at the same time "students of language B and language A teachers ". Reciprocity applies to people in country B.
Anyone who has been in contact with a certain language using the YoGoTe method can take advantage of it for a later approach to any other language. The structure of the lessons and the set of signs will be the same.
The existing set of lessons is designed for a first approach to a desired language at school, working in groups under the supervision of a teacher (who does not have to know the new languages, only the method and signs).
Context is an important part of these lessons, because it is helpful in making sense of the gestures made during interactions.
The best results can be achieved when two groups from different countries work together in a "reciprocal mode", as explained above:
There are 6 lessons, each for a different communication situation
Lesson 1 (greetings and scrolls)
Lesson 2 (buying and selling)
Lesson 3 (presentation)
Lesson 4 (hobbies)
Lesson 5 (narration)
Lesson 6 (opinions)
All lessons can be accessed in this web page
Each lesson begins with a video with an introduction and four sentences that carry the basic structure of the dialogues in this situation. Students should begin to watch the video in their own language in order to understand the meaning and intent of the phrases.
Only then can they go on to watch the video in the new language.
It is recommended to practice each phrase separately the first time, and then do a general practice of the contents of the lesson
There are also several supplemental materials for each lesson:
-A written page with phrases and additional vocabulary that will allow students to make new sentences on their own.
-A second video with additional words.
Auxiliary texts of each sentence with audio and links to the signs.
Interactive exercises with animations for each sentence that help the student to understand how to create and use new sentences with the additional vocabulary.
