We are very proud to represent the initiative of Maya Bishtawi, who already is a published author at such a young age and has been working very hard to not only to lead a successful future for herself, but also to assist other young and brilliant females with speaking up, understanding their worth and discovering who they are.
“My name is Maya Bichtawi, YES alumna 2017-2018 from Beirut and was placed in Shreveport, LA. I'm a Biology student at the Lebanese University and a published short story writer with مؤسسة الفكر العربي. I was an advisor at all 4 of the LAU model simulation programs, Model United Nations (MUN), Model European Union (MEU), Model Arab League (MAL) and Model African Union (MAU)"
The Future is She is a simulation program that aims to train 25 young ladies to debate innovative ways to empower women in Lebanon and in the Middle East by helping them acquire skills like conflict resolution, communication, negotiation and public speaking. At the end of the program a conference will be held to put their research and diplomatic skills. The program will provide the participants with 3 online training sessions that are delivered as pre-recorded videos, interactive chats, and several assignments. During the conference, they will be each participant will be role playing a character from a different background to represent all women in our society. At the end of the conference the participants must present a resolution to the challenges that Arab women face at the workplace.
The program aims to empower these young aspiring ladies to make a difference and become knowledgeable activists able to advocate for themselves. We will also highlight issues like the kafala system, struggles of Syrian refugee women, sexual harassment, etc.
