Alumni navigating through their journey of excellence!
My name is Amir Hijazi; I am proudly a YES Alumnus having travelled to Oregon in 2007-2008 engaging in a one of kind cultural experience that has helped shape whom I am today.
In 2019 I had the privilege to be the YES President, adding a new chapter to the collective accomplishments achieved by the Alumni Body throughout ongoing 15+ years of service in Lebanon.
YES Alumni also participated as volunteers such as, Souhaib and Hisham Younes
I have participated and helped organize many Cultural, Social, Educational, and Technological projects in Lebanon, many that had been conducted through Amideast and the YES program.
This has earned me great experiences related to Community Development & Project Management, as I have built a wide web of contacts with organizations ranging from NGOs, Educational Institutions, Companies, and Acquaintances...
Shaabe Massoulyati (شعبي مسؤليتي) is one of the freshest community initiatives established across Lebanon, aiming to enhance communities across all the regions, in addition to creating sustainable solutions to reach the ultimate goal of a mature & benevolent Lebanon.
“By the People, For the People”
My latest endeavors earned me the position of South Regional Head & Treasurer for Shaabe, being tasked with providing our services to the South, as to collaborate with like-minded initiatives and individuals.
The most recent campaign I headed in Saida, by which throughout the Holy month of Ramadan daily Iftar meals have been provided to many families in need, without discrimination to Ethnicity, Gender, and Political Backgrounds whatever.
The main goal that has been accomplished is achieving solidarity, compassion, and giving back in the community during these difficult times which the world faces.
More than 1,000 meals have been successfully distributed throughout Saida to the most families & individuals in need, to ease their hardships and strengthen community outreach when it’s most needed. To cap it off, traditional Eid sweets were provided to spread the spirit of Compassion & Charity of Ramadan. By which fruitful collaborations have been established with Local initiatives establishing a united front to accomplish all the goals.
This campaign would not have been successful without the tremendous support received to Shaabe by many righteous and caring individuals from across Lebanon, whether residing abroad or at home.
Moreover, the passion, hard work, and dedication presented by all parties involved including volunteers, concerned community members, local kitchen, and neighborhood committees shows that virtues and decency still exist stronger than before.
To me it is these values that must be nurtured and spread across all the communities of Lebanon, teaching them to our youth to shape a better tomorrow.
