Upcoming Events

Due to the current situation Lebanon is passing through, the board decided that we should carry on with our promise to making this year an outstanding one, despite everything going on. With that being said & because we care about your health and well-being, we decided to start giving online training sessions (until everything settles down, then we would go back to our pre-planned events) that targets coping with this current instability.

1. As a first step we are going to provide you with basic measures to cope and protect yourself from the Corona virus.

• Ruba Ghraizi & Majd AbdelKahlek are willingly volunteering their time to give this session to us (since they had previously taken it from the Red Cross). We are going to film them do this session and share it with all other regions so that no one has to leave their houses.
• Because our mental health is important as well, Khawla Nassriddine will be giving wellness sessions and psychological support to help cope with the negativity around us. We are going to film her do these session too, and share it with all other regions so that no one has to leave their houses.
• Alissa Shimaly SourLilly will be doing a couple of videos about the tips and tricks to stay entertained at home, morning workout routine...

These series of videos will be under our #YESInQuarantine initiative! We can’t wait😍 Meanwhile, if you have any recommendations for future videos, any tips or tricks to get through these tough times, please feel free to share them !

2. The South Region came up with a new idea called #YES_FACTS. Basically any alumni from any region is welcomed to post any random fact(s) that she/he might find interesting and worthy to share. Before posting, alumni have to send the fact(s) to their regional representatives to organize the process.

Why are we doing this?? We are doing our best to keep the interaction and communication alive between alumni, especially in this “chaotic” situation. So, this would be a great way to serve such purpose.

Tentative event dates:

• Beginning of every month: Videos and posts highlighting Alumni achievements
• March 8th: YES virtual meeting for the South Region
• March 9th: Meeting LAU Byblos YESers (Pending)
• March 13th, 20th: Visit an orphanage in the South Region (Postponed)
• March 29th: Sudden Cardiac arrests workshop, Champs Fund (Bekaa Region)
• April 1st: Announcement of the Address Book
• April 11th: Biking event in the South Region
• April 15th: Announcement of the Mentor-ship program (The mentor-ship program is a program provided by the YES Alumni Association in Lebanon targeted towards the new YES-Lebanon students that are expected to travel to the United States & newest alumni cohort. The mentors will be in contact with the students before traveling, while in the U.S., and a year after they come back to Lebanon) Stay Tuned!
• April 24th: Clothes donations (Ramadan) in all regions
• May 9th: Science fair in collaboration with AUB & SMEC in Beirut Region (Cancelled due to CORONA Virus Outbreak)
• May 30th: Hiking in Jabal (Mount Lebanon Region)
• May 31st: Field day in Bekaa Region
• June 1st: Announcement of YES newsletter (2nd issue)
• June 20th: Writing proposal workshop during Re-entry workshop for newbies (Board members)
• June 28th: A one day summer gathering (a mini retreat because, unfortunately, there won't be a two day retreat this year due to budget cuts)
• July 1st: Start YES Recruitment videos (A series of videos that will be posted daily, for 15 days, to advertise YES through the eyes of our current YES alumni (could be individualized or a group). These videos will be YES specific, and alumni will host Q&A sessions where they will answer FAQ questions related, & buzz feed style videos) Stay Tuned!
• July 24th: A YES football tournament in the South Region
• August 20th: ABAAD and Embrace event in the Bekaa Region
• August 28th: Career guidance & major guidance for high-school students
• August 30th: Wellness Fair in the Bekaa Region
• September 1st: Announcement of YES newsletter (3rd issue)
• October 1st: YES recruitment in schools (All regions)
• November 18th: Planting trees in Jabal (Mount Lebanon Region)
• December 31st: Announcement of the Book of Success (This book will be about all 530 alumni. It will include a personalized biography of each alumni which will highlight their main achievements and include YES-related questions. A way to get to know each other better).
• January 1st: Announcement of YES newsletter (4th issue)
