General Information FAQ
How does this fundraising program work?
YDE partners with community venues and fundraising programs that make charitable contributions to the organization in recognition of volunteer support. When volunteers assist at concession stands or other event locations, the venue donates to YDE as a whole. These donations support YDE’s mission and help fund our scholarship program.
YDE also participates in product‑based fundraisers throughout the year. Proceeds from these fundraisers are donated to YDE and used to support scholarships for families.
Volunteers participate as part of their charitable service to YDE and do not receive wages, compensation, or individual financial benefit.
YDE volunteers may not volunteer for other nonprofit organizations or third‑party services at the same venue where they are scheduled for YDE. Volunteers may support other nonprofits at venues where YDE does not have a contract. During peak season, volunteers are expected to prioritize YDE’s contracted locations.
Can donations from events or fundraisers go directly to my family?
No. Federal law prohibits this. Donations received through YDE activities must support the organization’s charitable mission and cannot be directed to individuals.
The IRS requires that 501(c)(3) organizations operate exclusively for charitable purposes and prohibits private benefit or individual fundraising accounts. All donations received through YDE support the organization’s general operations and scholarship program.
YDE may allocate up to 10% of donations to administrative and operational costs necessary to support the organization’s mission.
How much do venues donate per event?
Donation structures vary by venue. For current information about a specific event, please contact the event coordinator.
What venues does YDE partner with, and what are the age requirements?
Allianz Field: Volunteers must be 18 or older.
U.S. Bank Stadium: Volunteers must be 18 or older.
How do I become a volunteer with YDE?
Complete the electronic volunteer form located under the Volunteer Sign‑Up tab.
Each volunteer is required to pay an annual $20 administrative fee. For example, two volunteers in the same household would each pay $20.
To be eligible to request a scholarship, volunteers must:
Submit the annual volunteer form
Be active participants in YDE fundraising activities
Pay the annual administrative fee
Forms and fees are collected each fiscal year in July. These funds help support YDE’s nonprofit compliance and operational costs.
What types of expenses can scholarships support?
Scholarships may be requested for a wide range of youth activities and educational needs, including:
Sports programs (hockey, dance, football, baseball, camps, etc.)
Community education programs (Driver’s Ed, ECFE, etc.)
School trips
Enrichment camps
Church‑based youth programs (mission trips, camps, etc.)*
Educational expenses (preschool, college tuition, books, room and board, tutoring)
*The receiving organization must accept payment from a nonprofit. If the activity is canceled, funds must be returned to YDE.
Travel reimbursements are no longer supported. This list is not exhaustive; requests are reviewed according to YDE’s scholarship guidelines.
How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?
You may volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows. However, YDE must fully staff all contracted events to maintain our partnerships.
Volunteers choose the fundraisers that best fit their schedules.
YDE may accept donations from other nonprofit organizations when the requesting family is actively engaged in YDE’s mission and fundraising activities.
