How does this fundraising thing work?
YDE offers an exciting fundraising program that involves volunteering your time at different food and/or beverage booths at events. Each venue donates a percentage of the sales to YDE which then makes the funds available to families via scholarships.
YDE also hosts selling fundraisers throughout the year, where profits earned from the fundraiser are made available to award scholarships to families.
YDE does not permit volunteers to engage with other non-profit organizations or third-party services at the same venue where they are volunteering for YDE.
However, YDE allows our volunteers to work with other non-profits at venues that we do not have contracts with. Please keep in mind that during our peak season, you are expected to prioritize filling YDE's venue locations first.
Can the donations I raise go to my family directly?
No, this is 100% illegal under the IRS rules.
What you are asking about is called IFA (Individual Family Account).
The IRS specifically states that YDE must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, and no part of section 501(c)(3) organization’s net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.
When you sign up to be a volunteer with YDE, all funds raised legally have to go to YDE. YDE then takes up to 5% of operating costs. The remaining 95% goes directly to the YDE scholarship pool.
How much donation does YDE make per event?
Each venue is different; some venues donate a set amount per concession stand that we work at, while others donate a percentage of the sales.
What venues does YDE contract with and how old do you need to be to volunteer?
Allianz Field – 18 years or older.
US Bank stadium – 18 years or older.
How do I become a volunteer with YDE?
It's easy! Click on the Volunteer Sign-up tab and fill out the electronic form.
Each volunteer will have an annual administration cost of $20.00. Ex: if there are two of you in a family, you will each have a $20 fee.
In order to request a scholarship, you must have filled out a volunteer form, been an active volunteer, and covered the administrative cost.
Electronic volunteer forms and administrative costs are collected each fiscal year in July.
This cost helps cover our non-profit status and costs associated with running our Non-Profit Organization (NPO).
What can I use my earned scholarship for?
Sports Activities- Hockey, Dance, Football, Baseball, etc. You can even use it for camps!
Community Education programs- Driver's Ed, and ECFE classes.
School Trips
Enrichment Camps.
Church activities: Mission trips, church camps, and youth programs. You must request that the organization accepts money in the form of a check from our NPO. If the trip is canceled the funds must be returned to our NPO.
Educational Expenses- Pre-school, College tuition, and books, College room and board, Tutoring.
We no longer support travel reimbursements.
These are example activities and this list is not all-inclusive.
How much of a time commitment do I need to have in order to become a volunteer?
You can volunteer as much as you would like. However, all events MUST be filled in order to meet our contracted obligations.
You choose the fundraiser(s) which work best for you and your family.
In order to accept funds into YDE from another Non-Profit organization, you do need to be an active participant in our group. Meaning you must participate in events and/or selling fundraisers.
We do not allow families to sign up as volunteers with YDE to funnel scholarships from a different NPO to YDE, then to their desired organization, and not actively participate in YDE fundraisers.
