WHO WE ARE
Youth Dance and Enrichment (YDE) is a nonprofit, tax‑exempt organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations support YDE’s charitable mission. YDE is not organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, and no part of its net earnings benefits any private individual, in accordance with IRS regulations.
OUR MISSION
YDE supports families by providing scholarships that help offset the cost of dance tuition, educational expenses, and youth activities such as sports, camps, and community education programs. These opportunities allow children to participate in experiences they may not otherwise be able to access.
HOW WE OPERATE
YDE partners with community venues and fundraising programs that make charitable contributions to the organization in recognition of volunteer support provided by YDE participants. Volunteers assist YDE as part of their charitable service and do so without expectation of wages, compensation, or personal financial benefit.
All contributions received from fundraising activities support YDE’s general operations and its scholarship program. Scholarship awards are determined through an application and review process based on program guidelines and demonstrated need. Volunteer participation does not guarantee or increase eligibility for scholarship awards, and no funds are distributed based on individual volunteer activity.
GOVERNANCE
YDE is governed by a volunteer board of directors:
Melissa Shurson – President
Candice Leopold – Treasurer
Heather Sehnert – Secretary
Youth Dance and Enrichment is a tax‑exempt 501(c)(3) organization and files required returns with federal and state agencies. Our exempt status is based on volunteer service being uncompensated, and volunteers are not considered employees. Volunteers are not covered by worker’s compensation benefits through YDE or through partner organizations.
