Place in History - Jackie Moore fell in between two generations of women’s wrestling. She missed that 1980s period where there were valets and lady wrestlers who were having their respective impacts on pro-wrestling. She broke in as pro-wrestling was going into a recession, but showed some promise. A black woman trying to make it in a business that tends to discriminate against both minorities and women probably impeded her at points, but likely helped her at others. She was raised in the angle-heavy Memphis scene, so when Jackie finally caught a break, she excelled. In WCW, she did a few angles and performed strongly. When the WWF signed her and paired her with a heel Marc Mero after his split from Sable. The angle established Miss Jackie during that hot Attitude Era and she was able to remain a credible star for the rest of her career. While Jackie was better than average during that time frame, when the women’s division began growing, she quickly showed her age. Like Lita and Ivory, Jackie struggled to adapt to the increasing workrate amongst the ladies. She was released by the WWE and joined TNA. The young company was building their “Knockouts” division and the veteran was a nice acquisition. Feuding with Gail Kim, managing Beer Money, Inc. and working as a road agent, Jackie breathed new life into her career as she entered her 40s. Miss Jackie is one of the curious stars of the Attitude Era who was a main antagonist of the company’s biggest female star and then kind of coasted off that notoriety for a few years.
