Softball is a team sport played from late June through August. Athletes provide their own softball gloves. Bats, balls, and helmets are provided. Three teams (White, Black, Red) provide different levels of competition. For more information about Special Olympics, click here.
The State Softball Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 17 at the MHealth Fairview Health Sports Center at 4125 Radio Drive, Woodbury. Please plan to arrive at least one hour before your game time. To maintain the schedule, new innings will not begin after 50 minutes of play. Each team will play 2 games. Bring water and sunscreen!

Other State Tournament Details:
Lunch will be served for Athletes and Coaches from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day.

2025 Practice
Blazing Stars Softball practice will begin on Monday, June 23, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Softball Information:
Softball practice begins on Monday, June 23 at Lamar Fields in Cottage Grove and will continue through the state tournament on August 16-17. No practice on June 30 due to 4th of July week.
Start time is 6 pm. Practice will last until 7 p.m.
We expect to field three teams this season - White, Black and Red. Athletes and Coaches will help athletes decide which team fits their interests and level of competition.
Registration is $40 per athlete.
Tournament information:
The Metro Regional Softball Tournament will be held on July 19 at The Ponds Athletic Complex in Prior Lake, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please plan to arrive at least one hour before game time. (note that travel time is 45 min. to an hour travel time to Prior Lake)
The Special OIympics Minnesota State Softball Tournament is scheduled for August 16-17 at MHealth Fairview Sports Center in Woodbury, MN.
A note on registration fees – the Blazing Stars collects registration fees for athletes that are able to pay. Fees cover the cost of tournament participation (typically $20 for each athlete and coach), and team costs (equipment, uniforms, facilities rental). We are an all-volunteer organization and are responsible for all fundraising to cover team costs.
