Bocce includes individual and partner competition. The season runs from late June through August with regional and state competition. Pratices are held on Mondays nights at Lamar Fields in Old Cottage Grove. No equipment is necessary. For more information about Special Olympics Bocce, click here.
Blazing Stars Bocce will begin on Monday, June 15.
Bocce practice:
Bocce practice begins on Monday, June 15 at Lamar Fields in Cottage Grove and will continue through the state tournament on August 15 & 16. No practice on Monday, June 22 due to the 2026 USA Games at the University of Minnesota. We will have practice on June 29 (July 4th week).
For 2026, 2 practice sessions are being planned - 6 to 6:45 p.m. and 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. This "split" session allows our team to welcome new athletes and also provide more actual playing time for all athletes.
Registration is $40 per athlete.
Tournament information:
The Metro Regional Bocce Tournament will be held on July 25 or 26, at West St. Paul Sports Center in West St. Paul. (Blazing Stars will typically play on one of the 2 days - to be announced once the season starts) No practice on July 27th following the tournament.
The Special OIympics Minnesota State Bocce Tournament is scheduled for August 15 & 16 at MHealth Fairview Sports Center in Woodbury, MN. State is a 2-day tournament.
A note on registration fees – the Blazing Stars collects registration fees for athletes that are able to pay. Fees cover the Special Olympics Minnesota cost of tournament participation ($20 for each athlete and coach), and team costs (equipment, uniforms, facilities rental). We are an all-volunteer organization and are responsible for all fundraising to cover team costs.
