Golf is an individual or unified (with a partner) sport. The season runs from late-June through August with a state tournament. Practice is held at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury. Athletes provide their own golf clubs. For more information about Special Olympics Golf, click here.
Blazing Stars Golf will begin on June 24, 2025.
Golf practice:
Golf practice begins on Tuesday, June 24 at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury and will continue through the state tournament on August 24. No practice on July 1 because of July 4 holiday week.
Start time is 6 pm. Practice will last until 7 p.m.
Practice will be held at Eagle Valley Golf Course, 2600 Double Eagle Lane, Woodbury. A special “Thank You” to Eagle Valley Golf Course for providing free time on the course!
Registration is $40 per athlete.
As we will have a cap on team size of 20 Special Olympics Athletes, participation priority will be based on the following criteria:
Athletes represented by a Golf team coach, active Blazing Stars coach (other sports) or team organization volunteer.
Athletes that are currently on the Blazing Stars roster. If more athletes register than we have available team spots, selection will be based on a random drawing.
If more athletes from other delegations register than we have available team spots, selection will be based on a random drawing.
Tournament information:
The Metro Regional Golf Tournament will be held on July 28, 7:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hidden Greens Golf Course in Hastings, MN.
The Special OIympics Minnesota State Golf Tournament is scheduled for August 24, 7 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale, MN.
A note on registration fees – the Blazing Stars collects registration fees for athletes that are able to pay. Fees cover the cost of tournament participation (typically $20 for each athlete and coach), and team costs (equipment, uniforms, facilities rental). We are an all-volunteer organization and are responsible for all fundraising to cover team costs.
