Milestone 15: Clutch Shielding

Clutch Shielding Design

Subassembly Breakdown

The design for the clutch is an updated version that accounts for a throwout bearing and a belt system. This new setup is due to the research shown in Milestone 12 and Milestone 13. This design features a belt system, removable housing, cantilevered shafts, and a direct connection to the engine. This design significantly increases serviceability. To remove the clutch or access the belt, simply the 5 bolts on the top housing and the 1 bolt on the engine crankshaft must be removed. The shape of the housing is the way it is to create a more form-fitting design to cut down on weight and create a slimmer look.
