Evaluating Sources

Reflection: Evaluating a Source

I think that this essay was fairly simple to write, after all, it’s just detailing my experiences thus far and denoting my findings from one of the sources that I have located. I think the really difficult thing about this is that there is lots of good information on this topic, but none that is very specific about what I need it to say exactly to back up my point, or refute my argument. For example, I am finding a very tough time finding a source that goes against what I am saying, to give the counterargument. Every article/news clip that I see is either people dismissing it, or saying that it’s too volitile and to wait and see. There isn’t really any specificity besides the main complaints that everyone has heard about it.

I do think that looking through all of these arguments will help to strengthen my essay though. By seeing that all of the articles are talking about the same few things, I can more easily clear up a lot of the confusion, and perhaps guide people onto the correct path for them to start getting excited/interested more. One thing that did work well in addition to this, is the new knowledge that I gained about the topic that I am writing about. Before I went into this, I was excited to learn about a new technology that I haven’t really heard all too much about before. This gives me a reason to learn about it.

Not that I needed a reason, I most likely would have learned about it eventually. Doing it in an academic setting though makes me want to improve the quality of my findings to better give myself and my reader a full and complete idea. I think that this is really the greatest thing for my report, my enthusiasm towards this topic and my drive for knowledge about it.
