The Weslaco East HS Choir is open to any student that wishes to share their gift of music. We have different levels of the choir which is available to suit all students who wish to participate. We have performance ensembles for those students who wish to be in competitions and then we also have non-competing choirs who perform only a Fall and Spring Concert. We believe that all students can sing. It is a learned craft, and we strive to help all students achieve the best that they can be. We believe that the choir is an integral part of the curriculum in which students learn foreign languages like German and Italian.
In 2015 the Kantorei Treble Choir received its first Sweepstakes trophy in school history. In 2017 brought a Sweepstakes trophy to the Kantori Non-Varsity Mixed Choir. Several Division 1's have been achieved in both Concert and or Sight reading Contest. We are proud of what we have accomplished and look forward to you becoming part of our family.

At Mary Hoge Middle School we are very proud to have a strong and talented group of students year in and year out participate in our choir program. I am honored to step into a campus with a rich tradition of vocal excellence and a true family-centered vibe in our choir room. Our purpose at Mary Hoge is to provide our students no matter their experience level in the choir a place to learn and grow as people and as musicians. We believe that music is a vital part of life and that, particularly the vocal music genre, is where our students learn to make music that they are proud of and take with them the experience of being a part of a group of musicians as they progress through their academic life. We at Mary Hoge know that students learn more easily and retain more of their classwork if they participate in the fine arts. Making music uses all parts of the brain and with this knowledge, they can not only sing but read music and understand how music terminology and basic music theory apply to them in the choir classroom.
The choir has performed as part of a group of singers in many different UIL contests and obtained many awards. The choir students have performed the National Anthem at many of the Pep Rallies at Mary Hoge and last year performed with the Weslaco East High School Choir before the Varsity Football game at Bobby Lackey Stadium. We look forward to being a part of the WISD Fall Festival this year and of course in our Fine Arts Fiesta in Spring 2021. All these upcoming events will hinge upon where we are in the fight against Covid-19, but we will be ready no matter the setting virtual or live, and in person.
Our special events every year are the Fall Choir Concert shared with Cuellar Middle School and Weslaco East High School Choirs. We also join in a Christmas Concert with all the choirs that feed into the East Choir Cluster in the month of December. Mary Hoge also takes the choir students to the neighboring elementary schools to carol for the students in the month of December as well. We always look forward to participating in UIL Choir Competitions and Region Choir for Region 28.
