Meet Tyla Cardona, Class of 2022 Weslaco East High School Alumni and former member of the Wildcat Regiment as a flute player. During her time at Weslaco East High School, Tyla served as a member of the Weslaco East High School student council and served as a junior class officer. Cardona has also received an Outstanding Band Member Award as a member of the Concert Band. Tyla marched in three Division 1 rated shows entitled: 2018 Persephone, and 2019 Silk Road and 2021 In The Sky; under the direction of Armando Cuellar.

“My favorite memories are mostly the performances I had with them throughout the 4 years. It has allowed me to continue my journey in music education, and as well create a family that is always going to be there. Joining band has brought fun experiences, friends, family, creativity and fun into my life."

After graduation, Tyla attended Texas A&M University Kingsville to pursue a bachelor's in science. This past fall she served as a member of the Javelina Marching Band piccolo section. Tyla is expected to graduate in 2026. Cardona dreams of becoming a high school teacher in the near future.
