Meet Adam Pequeno, Class of 2017 Weslaco East High School Alumni and former member of the Wildcat Regiment. During his time at Weslaco East High School, Adam served as a member of the loading crew and tuba officer for the Wildcat Regiment. He also served as a member of the WEHS Baseball team for three years. Adam also served as a member of the WEHS National Honor Society and competed in the Science fair. Adam marched in four consecutive shows entitled; 2013 Imaginarium, 2014 ZO, 2015 Illumina Noctume, and 2016 Bacelli. The Regiment was under the direction of Ron Bissett.
“Some of my favorite memories have been the Pigskin division announcements. Even when we got the 2 with the show Ilumina Noctume. These announcements would either prove how hard and dedicated we worked that season or would humble us as a group and give us the opportunity to grow from that. My other favorite set of memories would definitely be with the loading crew because even though we're tired and sweaty, the crew always knew how to laugh and make jokes and to brighten up the night no matter how bad the night was.”
The impact the WR has made on my life has been an interesting one because if it wasn't for the band, I don't know where I would be in life at this moment. The Regiment has taught me that no matter how good of an individual you are in either playing or marching, you can't do it all alone. Whether it be having a support system in hard times, having family help you with rough patches in life, or having a group of friends that is there for you no matter what. The amount of support in our lives can really make a big difference in our lives. Life is already hard enough, there is no need to make it harder by doing it alone. I recommend joining a band because you can always create memories and moments that will always be a part of our lives, but the music you get to play in the WR makes it a little sweeter.
