Weather

The heat index measures how hot it feels based on temperature and relative humidity. Be mindful of the heat index on a given day, and learn more from the National Weather Service.

Water

Learn how to avoid getting caught in a rip current here.

Be prepared for cool water temperatures.

When recreating and working around water, it is especially important to be aware of air and water temperatures and wear the appropriate attire for the elements. Good rule of thumb is that for anytime the air and water temperatures add up to 120 or lower, be extra cautious of hypothermia.

Recreate safe within the Cuyahoga River shipping channel with other rowers, kayakers, paddleboarders, boaters, jet skis, and 1,000-foot freighters all try navigating the twisty waterway. 

Get some safety tips for you and friends, so you know before you go paddling on the Cuyahoga River:
