Level 7, known as "Thalassophobia," is the 8th level of the Backrooms. The level features an infinitely vast ocean of freshwater that extends endlessly in all directions. The sky is perpetually dim and overcast, creating an eerie, oppressive atmosphere. Light never truly breaks through the thick clouds, leaving the sea in a constant state of murky twilight. The turbulence of the water is extremely unstable, with waves that can vary from gentle ripples to violent surges within moments. This makes navigation treacherous and often impossible for new wanderers. Despite the freezing temperatures of the water, it is still somewhat manageable for brief periods, though hypothermia is a constant threat. Floating throughout the expanse of the sea are small, tilted houses. These houses appear dilapidated and abandoned, often containing waterlogged furniture, decayed wood, and peeling wallpaper. Most houses are comprised of a single room with at least a foot of water flooding the floor. The sound of water dripping from the ceilings and waves crashing against the walls creates an unsettling auditory backdrop.
Within the water itself, shadowy figures are occasionally seen beneath the surface. These figures are elusive, rarely coming close enough for clear identification. However, reports from wanderers describe them as resembling humanoid shapes, though unnaturally distorted and seemingly watching from the depths. No confirmed hostile encounters have occurred, but the mere presence of these figures is enough to instill unease. Oddly, the water of Level 7 is drinkable, despite its freezing temperatures and the unsettling environment. However, prolonged exposure to the water can lead to feelings of disorientation and paranoia. The houses scattered across the level sometimes contain supplies like canned food or old survival gear, but finding anything useful requires thorough searching and considerable luck.
Entrances to Level 7 are rare and unpredictable, often linked to areas in previous levels where water is prominently featured. Exits are even more elusive, with most wanderers reporting that they were only able to leave after falling asleep or being dragged by unseen forces into another level. Those who manage to leave Level 7 often carry with them a lingering sense of dread, as if something from the infinite ocean is still watching them.
Entities -
Level 7 is only inhabited by one entity that lurks in the depths of the inalienable sea; The Thing on Level 7.

Entrances
A staircase in Level 6 leads to Level 7.
The Sea in the Sunset Resort (Level 1301) might lead to Level 7. (This is just a theory, due to the dangerous ocean and entity attacks.)
