Description
Level 0, being the first level in the backrooms curriculum, is the most iconic due to its striking mono-yellow wallpaper and liminality. The Level features an expanse of empty, segmented rooms cemented to the ground by damp carpet. Florescent lights spread a horizontal and vertical grid across the level, sometimes the lights being segmented inside a wall. The level has non-Euclidean geometry, making navigating the level itself a almost impossible task. GPS and compasses don't function as the magnetic field rays vertical. The Humming of the florescence itself is constant and persistent, creating an unnerving, high-pitched sound that never ceases, adding to the overwhelming sense of isolation and unease within the environment.
The Level is constant, repeating and has the same results of a solitary confinement room. Wanderers who initially enter the Level go insane within a matter of days due to the constant buzzing and repeating nature. Sanity drops can be experienced within 5 - 15 hours if proper guidance is not taken. Supplies can be a threat to survival as well, as nothing in Level 0 is deemed edible or drinkable. The Carpet fluid is deemed not water nor moist and NOT safe for human consumption. Drinking this fluid has predicted to end lives faster than dehydration. Due to the inexperience of people to the backrooms nature, it is estimated less than a majority ever get past Level 0. Though any corpses or bodies have never been found. (A theory suggests that the level swallows the dead after they perish but no evidence has proven this.)
Level 0 is completely devoid of life. You will never find any wanderers here except for in the Manila Room. Any sound you hear in the space are likely auditory hallucinations. If you see what seems to be a human, sanity drops are most likely catching up to you and you must seek an escape quick. Hallucinations can differ from each other in Level 0, some examples being -
1- Doors and Holes in the Wall
2- Random signs of Deja vu
3- Human sound and body
4- Insect like chirping (might be a transition from the florescent humming).
As said above, no entities or life has been found in Level 0, an impossibly small chance can be a skin stealers can be found in the level is the only sign of anyone else in this Liminal Hellscape.
The Red Rooms.
Sometimes, the yellow stretch might turn into a dim hallway with red wallpaper. These areas are known as the Red-Rooms. These areas are not known to appear frequently, but advised not to enter if one encounters it. As the ''Red-Rooms'' are known to bring many hazardous affects to wanderers who unknowingly enter. Effects might include nausea, anxiety and paralysis.
The Manila Room.
The Manila Room is often described by wanderers as - ''an unknown place at a unknown time.'' the area features an isolated, small room surrounded by ornate, old Wallpaper with a slight Manila shade to it. This area can be accessed by walking an unknown distance in a straight path. Surprisingly, wanderers can meet each other here and interact but will be separated once diving back to Level 0. The Level has a couple of tables and chairs, and on some occasions Almond Water. Organizations like the M.E.G and the B.N.T.G leave guides and messages for the lost and guide them on how to guide the Tedious journey they are about to take.
