Develop your own learning plan for attaining the skills necessary to navigate virtual environments
Configure and setup your VR device
Develop a comfort level with navigating virtual environments
Understand where to access additional apps that are available for your VR device
Understand where to go to get additional instruction on how to use your VR device
Unit Overview
In this unit we work on the fundamentals of how to access virtual environments using head mounted displays. We will start by reflecting on other times you have had to learn a new technology. We will build off of that experience in developing your own learning plan to learn the necessary skills to use immersive VR technologies. We will then work through the steps of setting up your VR device, accessing it for the first time, and running through the built in tutorials. This will provide you with the basic skills you need to navigate virtual environments. We will then discuss how to find and access additional VR apps.
In this unit we focus specifically on the use of the Oculus Quest platform (either the Quest or Quest 2). The general information covered in this unit will be applicable to other devices, but you may need to look for device specific instructions if you are planning on using something other than the Quest.
