You can record your video at WinCAM or use your own phone. Suggestions and a sample script below: make your best impression on the voters so they vote for you!
Recording at WinCAM
The text statement and photo are easy to submit (fill out the form and email the photo). The video, however, can be challenging if you are not already familiar with the process. One way to do it is to follow these steps. Record your video statement early -- capacity and staffing at WinCAM is limited and there are many ongoing events.
Fill out the form first, and email your photo first, using the same name you used to pull papers.
Contact vote01890@gmail.com and we will help you to set up an appointment at WinCAM. If you are already a WinCAM member, you already know how this works.
It is strongly recommended that you write out the words in your entire video statement and read it during the recording session. Practice saying them in the mirror so you see what your viewers will see.
Your statement can be taped up next to the camera so you can look at it while looking directly into the lens.
The video is recorded, and the WinCAM editor can add your name (use the same one you registered for the election) and the office for which you are seeking election. That can be added to the "lower 1/3" of the screen so people know who is speaking.
WinCAM can either send the videos to vote01890 or upload to YouTube and send the link. We can embed the video in your candidate profile. A sample candidate profile can be viewed here.
Candidates can send an electronic copy of their statement to wincam@wincam.org if they are interested in using a teleprompter.
Candidates may visit WinCAM by appointment within their standard hours of operation. Recording outside of regular hours of operation will not be available.
WinCAM employees will not edit videos. Candidates will be allowed three FULL takes of their presentation during their session. All three takes will be available to preview so the candidate may pick one to send to Vote01890. WinCAM will not take parts of the three takes and edit them together.
Lower third graphics will consist of candidate name and precinct or office only. WinCAM will not display additional graphics for websites, contact info, etc.

Do It Yourself
If you are proficient at using the video recording on your mobile phone or tablet, you can record the video and send along your registered candidate name and position.
Sending the video: Video file sizes are sometimes rather large, so use a free file sending service such as wetransfer.com, transfernow.com, or transfer.pcloud.com - there is no need to register for an account, although some of these require you to verify your email to complete the file transfer. Of course you can drop off a USB drive with the file.
Always hold the camera in Landscape (horizontally). Hold the camera steadily, or ask a friend to hold it while recording. Many camera apps can trim the start and end of the video. Use good light (daylight is best) and avoid shadows on your face if the lighting is bright. Smile and speak confidently.
Don't worry if you don't add the name and office - as long as it clearly sent to us we can put them on the clip.
