RUTLAND - Spooks and screams could be heard throughout the halls of the Rutland Civic Center during the recently held Halloween Spookacular, organized by the Department of Parks and Recreation, under the coordination of Recreation Director Denise Lambert and Councilwoman Madalyn Wood.
The event was held after the Village's Trick-or-Treat on Halloween. A crowd of more than one hundred people gathered at the Rutland Civic Center for refreshments, music, games, a costume-judging contest, inflatables and the haunted house tour.
Rutland Mayor Tyler M. Eblin announces $1,300 was received in collection of admission fees, concessions fees and sponsorships as part of implementation of the event.
Monetary donations were provided by Joan May, Rutland Bottle Gas and an anonymous donor. The following donors provided in-kind sponsorships: Animotronics by Joe Roberts and Tara Roberts; equipment and supplies by Brent Rose and Carrie Rose; inflatables by Meigs Inflatables. Discounted disc jockey services were provided by D.J. Suture / Aaron Dunham.
"On behalf of the Village of Rutland, Recreation Director Denise Lambert and I jointly extend our sincerest appreciation to our donors who contributed funds and equipment directly resulting in the phenominal success of the event," comments Mayor Eblin.
An event staff of 22 volunteers implemented the event, with 14 assigned to the haunted house, three to concessions, three to games and two to inflatables.
"The Village owes a special appreciation to those who worked diligently in the event's organization and implementation: our volunteers, the hands who make event happen," comments Mayor Eblin. "Without our donors and volunteers, this event would be impossible."
Mayor Eblin notes all revenue received in admission and concessions fees, as well as monetary donations, offset all event expenses, with no expenditure of public funds required.
