Starting in the 2021-2022 school year, Viera High School will offer an orchestra class for students who have little-to-no experience playing string instruments: violin, viola, cello, and bass. VHS owns many larger string instruments and can rent these for a nominal fee, and students can also rent-to-own instruments at Atlantic Strings (321-725-4161) on 192 (near the mall). Students will be asked to attend rehearsals and performances outside of the regular school day, as per the "co-curricular" nature of a performing arts class.

The Concert Orchestra is designed for students who have prior instruction on a string instrument. This intermediate level ensemble focuses on technical, listening, and musicianship skills need to be a better string player. This orchestra performs at school and community concerts as well as FOA district orchestra festivals. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course.

The Viera Chamber Orchestra is designed for advanced string players. The Viera Chamber Orchestra performs professional symphonic and chamber literature at school and community concerts as well as FOA regional and state orchestra festivals. Extra rehearsals and performances are required as part of this course. An audition is required as well.
