Scholarships are basically grants given to students to assist them in achieving their educational goals. A lot of scholarship grants are made available nowadays. Education Department and other Government Departments provide different types of scholarships. In this portal all those departments and their relevant information are provided. Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students

From top 20% on the Basis of the results of senior secondary examination, 41000 Girls and Boys total 82000 are selected from each of State boards.

National Means cum Merit Scholarship

National Means Cum Merit Scheme for Class VIII(55% for General and 50% for SC/ST) students who are qualified in State Level Exam in Mental Ability Test(MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) by Dept of elementary Education(HRD).

National Scheme for Incentive for the girl child for secondary education

National Scheme of Incentive is given to All Girl Child from SC/ST Passing Class IX//All passing Class VIII from KGBV by the Dept of elementary Education(HRD).

Top Class Education Scheme for SC

The Scheme aims at recognizing and promoting quality education among students belonging to SC, by providing full financial support. The Scheme will cover SC students for pursuing studies beyond 12th class. The Scheme will operate in all the institutions notified by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Upgradation of Merit of SC Students

To arranging coaching for SC/ST students studying in class 9th to 12th. 2050 students will be covered under the scheme. Coaching should start at 9th level and continue upto 12th for a period of 4 years. Entry point is class 9th however students may be enrolled in class 10th and 11th if shown excellent performance. State Govt. may use their discretion to decide allotment of seats among SCs on the basis of illiterate population of their communities.

WB Chief Minister Relief Fund Scholarship

Assistance from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund is given to the student :

• Who is a permanent resident of the State of West Bengal.

•Who is studying in any institutions of the State after passing out the State Board /Council of Secondary Education or a State aided University in West Bengal.

•Who has got 65% marks in aggregate in Madhyamik Examination [for H.S. level] or 60% in aggregate in H.S. Examination [ for U.G. level] or 55% Marks in the Honours Subject [for P.G. level]

•Who do not enjoy any other governmental(central/state) scholarship or stipend for the same course or stage of study during the last year.

• Whose annual family income does not exceed Rs. 60000/-.

Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

With a view to assisting the meritorious students belonging to economically backward families in the State of West Bengal to pursue higher studies, the Government of West Bengal introduces this scheme of giving scholarships at different levels of higher studies, at educational institutions based in West Bengal.
