Gopi dada wanted me to meet a Master in Kutarnatti. He's like my human GPS, always knowing the way. We planned the trip for the next day, starting early at 8 am. But first, Gopi dada treated us to breakfast at The New Grand Hotel, a place he's been visiting for 40 years. The delicious food set the tone for our journey.

As we drove, Gopi dada shared stories from his 40 years in North Karnataka. We hit a few bumps, getting lost along muddy roads, but eventually found our way to the Master's village. When we arrived, the Master was waiting for us at a crossroad. Gopi dada was overjoyed to see him, and they hugged like old friends.
Inside the Master's home, we chatted about his life and enjoyed some local food. He even showed us his collection of documents. Then, he surprised us with music, playing a traditional instrument called the Kaalpeti. Despite his age, he sang a beautiful song.
During our conversation, we discovered that Gurunath, one of our companions, used to be a performer too. But he had to stop because it wasn't sustainable. The Master agreed, suggesting it's best not to rely solely on art for a living. He even asked Gopi dada if he knew anyone interested in buying the Kaalpeti.
Saying goodbye to the Master, I felt incredibly fortunate to have met such wonderful people. We headed to Mekalamardi next, where Gopi dada works. There, I met Dastagir, whom I'd seen at a Toastmasters event before. The place was filled with talented women crafting beautiful items from various materials like banana fiber, jute, cotton, wool, leather, etc.
Heading home, Gopi dada expressed pride in his work, passing on his legacy. And just like that, Gurunath's master called, inviting us to Bagalkot. The question of balancing art and livelihood lingered in my mind, but surrounded by such inspiring individuals, I felt hopeful for the journey ahead.
