- Bridge -
Jasmine was on the bridge and going over Sheela's report and other reports that were coming in, when the ships Comms came to life and her XOs voice came over the Comms.
=/\=Sterling to Captain Somers, Damage control teams are beaming back do you want to rig for towing? =/\=
Pressing the button on her chair arm =/\= Somers here, affirmative Commander, have tractor Control rig the ship for towing, Somers out =/\=
After she finished speaking to her First Officer she closed the Comms and returned to her reports knowing that her First Officer would do her job.
- USS Tomcat Intel Labs -
Sheela finished up her report on the information from the USS Nimitz.
Report:
"Ship sustained heavy damage with an encounter with a Romulan Patrol of unknown number of ships. There were 12 survivors remaining out of 400 crewmembers. Lieutenant Oda being the most senior officer of the ship ordered a withdrawal and expenditure of the last of the torpedoes to facilitate the escape.
ESS Nimitz beyond repair, She ordered the remaining crew into cryostasis, with power only to the Cryostasis Chambers and a beacon broadcasting in continuous repeat cycle; from the Science department study, shown the ship had fast decaying matter that signifies that the ship entered a wormhole or rift that brought the ship into our time line and dimension 7 to 8 hours after the encounter with the Romulan’s."
End report
Sheela sighed as she leaned back in her chair to give thought on what she wrote for her report for the captain. With a heavy heart she sent the report to Captain Somers to read at her leisure.
- Bridge – USS Tomcat –
After Sheela had ended the call Jasmine pulled up the data on her chair display screen, what she found intrigued her, it seems that the Lieutenant’s reality was remarkably similar to this one, Jasmine knew that there was more than one reality and plenty so close to her own it did not bear thinking about. After reading the message she filed the report away and just sat there thinking.
Tapping her Commbadge =/\= Somers to Sterling =/\=
Tapping her Commbadge to make the connection =/\= Sterling here Captain =/\=
=/\= Commander how much longer will you need to be over there? I only ask as we need to be getting under way for Starbase 39 Sierra =/\=
=/\= We will be returning shortly Captain, any problems? =/\= Maia asked.
=/\= I see, understood, the moment you get back on board and Lieutenant Oda has extracted herself out of her EVA suit have her report to my ready room via my Yeoman =/\=
=/\= Understood Captain, will do =/\=
=/\= Thank you Commander, Somers out =/\= with the link now closed Jasmine reflected on her mission that was somewhat a puzzlement.
The missions primary objectives were completed, but they still left a lot of unanswered questions, questions that did not really have any answers, sighing heavily she thought of other things.
- Changing Room -
It only took Tomoe a few minutes to change out of her EVA suit, and within minutes of her return to the Tomcat she was standing in front of the captain’s ready room door. She was still dressed in her 22nd century uniform and still wore the rank of Lieutenant.
- Captain's Ready Room -
The captain’s yeoman waived her in and Tomoe walked past, stood at attention and saluted.
"Lieutenant Tomoe Oda, reporting."
Jasmine had left the bridge in the hands of Major Donovan, now she sat behind her desk above and behind her was the 95th Regiment Battle colours and the Regimental banner, in the middle was the UFP emblem. The larger ceremonial banner held all the names of the battles the 95th fought in. The most recent two was The Earth/Romulan War and the Dominion War, back then the regiment still existed but only in name as it was part of the larger ground forces of United Earth army, but she had fought long and hard to get the Earth/Romulan war battle placed on the regimental banner, That was back when she was a full bird Colonel, but upon joining a new Fleet she had to drop some ranks and switch departments, now she wore Command Red. She missed the green shirt, but her desk light lit up signalling that her new officer had arrived, and as if on queue a Lieutenant in old style NX era uniform entered and came smartly to attention and saluted.::
Looking up and returning the salute "be seated Lieutenant" She said.
Tomoe took the offered seat and just listened.
"That is strange as we also had a Lieutenant Tomoe Oda who fought in the Earth/Romulan War, but she died on the NX class Nimitz shortly before the end of the war, our Oda was awarded the Starfleet Silver Cross and Gallantry medal and her body was cremated and sent to her family."
"As far as everyone who knew me is concerned, I died then as well" Tomoe replied.
Looking at her with some sympathy "Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Lieutenant, but I think I can brighten it up slightly" She paused. "Your companion, and yes he is alive and well in medical. Also you will be pleased to note that I have updated your service jacket and officially given you the rank of Lieutenant Commander, while your posthumous promotion was given, to the rest of reality ours or yours, you were technically dead, so to speak but now you are officially a Lieutenant Commander again, I need an experienced Department Head for Security, so I am putting you in charge of my ships Security as Chief of Security, for now that will be your only assignment, it will allow you to acclimate to this reality and timeframe." She paused as she checked Oda's uniform "While I myself am an ex marine, we no longer salute if you are of the Naval branch of Starfleet, so here is your Security clearances and room number, your belongings have by now been placed in them, also there is a new uniform in your room, Operations Yellow with Lieutenant Commander rank. Those codes I gave you will establish you as the new Security Chief. When you get the chance speak with Major Donovan, she had been covering Security Department and will no doubt be glad to walk you through the basics, any questions?"
"Not to sound ungrateful or anything, but you do know I'm over 250 years out of date, and I've been in stasis far longer than those stasis pods were designed to operate. I don't doubt my abilities, but I'm surprised you don't."
Looking at the newly minted Lieutenant Commander "I have no need to Commander, You have experience with Security and in Two-hundred and fifty years the duties of a Security officer have rarely changed in its application. But you check out physically fit and so as I am running low on Department Heads. But I leave room for new crew to prove me wrong, you Commander have to prove my confidence in you is justified for the position I have given you."
"Then I guess I'll get to it" Tomoe replied.
"Indeed, so you have your security clearance and your position as Department Head, now go get you a new modern uniform and get you acquainted with your Department, Any Further questions?"
"None, Tomoe replied, then exited the office. Fifteen minutes later she was walking into her new office having already changed into a new uniform with the correct rank.
- Cargo Bay -
Sheela moved through the ship and slipped into the cargo area after Doctor and the XO departed. She moved over to the various items that had been recovered from the ESS. Nimitz.
She pawed through the stuff carefully and looking at it. A lot of the stuff should be in a museum, or found on a developing world entering the first stages of interstellar flight. She took notes and digital pictures to send higher up her chain of command.
Sheela moved though the coffins of the few cyro-stasis chambers that was brought aboard. Specially the one that carried Oda. She poked and prodded into where ever she could pry open or peek into. It was curious that cyro-stasis chamber that carried Oda was the only functional one aboard the ESS Nimitz.
Sheela sat there for a few moment looking thoughtful. She suddenly stood up and scampered from the cargo bay, taking her tools and data pads with her, leaving a mess behind.
After dropping off the stuff in her Den, Sheela snagged her evac suit and scampered down to engineering. She volunteered to join the Rigging Teams to go aboard the ESS Nimitz.
- ESS Nimitz -
Sheela fully encased in her evac suit along with a few Engineers appeared inside the now vacant Nimitz. The team didn't need her as she was just a Tag-a-long, leaving her free to explore the Nimitz at her leisure. She wandered the corridors. Really paying attention to the details and extent of the battle damage the ESS Nimitz received.
She wandered the corridors aimlessly getting the feel of the ship. Bypassing some of the more obvious damage the ship had received. She found the ship's morgue. Or what was used at the ship's Morgue. With a ship this big and all of the dead. The infirmary's Morgue would've been overflowing.
- ESS Nimitz's Main Computer Core -
12 out of 400 or more, survived. And then even less survived from being placed in cyro-stasis. She ended up in the vast Computer Core. Silent and still. Moving over to the Maintenance Console, she sat down in the chair, looking at the dark blanks screens of monitors, gauges that monitored the environment and rpm of the Computer Core.
By all means everything looked intact. She stood up and moved to the actual access panel into the workings of the Computer. She carefully pried it open and entered now silent computer, looking at banks upon banks of computer logic and storage boards. She moved through the maintenance corridor, looking at the labels of various boards. Every once in awhile she would spot a small glowing LED of varying colours still glowing. Coming up to a section that held the banks of Hard drives that contained the software to do myriads of calculations; operational software of running a vast ship's components such as replicators, life support, machinery in loading torpedoes, turbolifts and the memory banks from all of the various departments that oversaw the functioning of the ship and crew. She moved from level to level, looking over the various components.
This place was a gold mine for information. Now to access it, bypassing the security protocols. She would have to call her Handler for the access codes to rely get to work. But once word got out, the whole ship would be flooded with personnel from all sorts of departments that made up Starfleet.
