In the City of Bikes by Pete Jordan tells the story of a urban planning student who moves to Amsterdam for his love of commuter cycling and desire to feel connected with the transportatin network. After living in many cities and always commuting via the bike, Pete travels to the mecca of city cycling: Amsterdam, where he plans to move with his wife Amy. Pete gives many insights along the way about traveling and cycling in Amsterdam, while sprinking in entertaining stories about his travels. Pete provides his thought process on many Dutch phenomena from the eyes of an American, to help those who have never experienced a lifestyle like this one understand pros and cons, as well as joys and frusterations. His goal in the book is to share his enthusiasm for urban planning, cycling, and simply being a positivley contributing member to the fabric of modern society.
