Sustainable Urban Mobility

Hallo, ik ben Zach Foltz

I'm a Senior at the University of South Florida majoring in Civil Engineering with a minor in French. 2 summers ago I spent 10 days in Amsterdam. Then last summer I spent 25 days traveling across 8 different countries in Western Europe. I’m thrilled to be returning to Europe for the 3rd summer in a row. For the free weekend of this class I will be re-visiting the Capital of Denmark: Copenhagen, to compare the bike / transit friendly infrastructure that exists there to what we will be studying in the Netherlands. Since I have already been to the Netherlands twice, I’m already relatively familiar with the culture (although there is always more to learn, see, and experience), so I’ll be primarily focusing on gaining a better understanding of the planning and upkeep that goes into developing the sustainable and efficient infrastructure seen across Europe. I am also very interested to meet the graduate students at TU Delft to acquire some insight into what it is like being a grad student in Europe, and the opportunities available. I plan to attend grad school in Europe in the next few years, potentialy in The Netherlands, Switzerland, or Luxembourg. In my spare time I produce electronic and Hip-Hop music and I DJ for local social and business events. For fitness I enjoy swimming, biking and jogging, especially at the beach. I don’t watch many movies or TV shows but I do enjoy documentaries and travel shows. If I could meet/interview anyone it would be Elon Musk or travel writer Rick Steves.
