Initial Impressions

I had heard many things about the city of Delft before coming on this trip. I had heard it was a great alternative location to visit in the Ntherlands however I was not able to make it until this year. I was excited to see how a very small and old Dutch city would be designed. After entering the city, It really felt like a true Dutch town, with a modern transportation system, tons of bikes, and increadibly old structres dotting the skyline. I was very excited to utilize the "feitsstraats" (bike streets) to comfortably and quickly explore the city and university area. I really liked the sharp contrast of building structres in the city of delft. In the city center exist large brick structres from the early days of Holland, while on the other side, TU Delft consists mainly of ultra-modern, crisp 21st century design. My favorite building on campus is the student library with a sloped roof that has a lawn area where students can sit and relax.
