Hello again girls.
I hope you’re all keeping well and had a lovely Easter. Below you can find some activities that you might like to work on for this week. I’m going to suggest 1 or 2 key areas in maths and literacy. It would be great if you could spend even 15 minutes a day on the maths and the same again on your reading and spellings. I've spoken to your class teachers and they're happy for you to focus on the Literacy and Maths suggested here and not to do their reading and maths. You might, however, like to continue doing the work they've set in the other subjects. I don't want anyone to feel under pressure girls so please don’t feel the need to do any of this, if you feel you already have enough on your plate.
I can see how weird this must be for you girls. Believe me, it’s weird for me too. It’s a very strange time for the whole world. This will definitely be written about in history books for your children and grandchildren to read about in years to come. How mad is that?! However, the best thing we can all do at the moment is stay at home, mind each other and stay safe. Hopefully we’ll be back to school soon.
In the meantime, enjoy all this time with your family. Be patient and helpful and try not to argue too much with your brothers and sisters.
I’m giving you my email address here if you want to get in touch with any questions, or if you don’t understand something. Please feel free to keep in touch. Just make sure you get your parents’ permission before you email me. My address is aveale@ursulineps.ie
Try to do a little bit every day and we’ll catch up as best we can when we go back to school.

I’d really love for you to continue with www.readtheory.org It’s probably the best way for you to continuing practising your reading at a level that suits each one of you. Don’t forget to read each quiz out loud, 5 times, with someone - like I always tell you. That way, you’ll be improving your fluency as well as working on your comprehension
If you enjoyed any of the books on https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/books/free-ebooks/ or https://www.storylineonline.net/ , you might like to revisit those sites and pick different books this time. Try Catching the Moon, the story of a young girl who pursued her dreams https://www.storylineonline.net/books/catching-the-moon-the-story-of-a-young-girls-baseball-dream/
Working on your sounds is one sure way to improve your spellings. If you want to try something new, take a look at Galaxy Game where you have to decide whether words are real or fake. Start with Level 3 sounds. Pick one or two sounds each day that you’re not sure of. Or, click ‘Revise all Level 3’ to see if you’re ready to move on to Level 4.
When you click Planet Level 4, you’ll see buttons like cvcc, ccvc, ccvcc etc. These words will help you practise your blends. C stands for consonant and v stands for vowel e.g. cvcc = words like silk, belt, film; ccvc = words like blot, snip, skim; ccvcc = words like trend, glint, stand
The final button – cccvc and cccvcc will help you practise your triple blends. Remember we did those a few weeks ago? str, spr, thr, spl, scr are all examples of triple blends. cccvc = words like strop, scrap, splat cccvcc = words like spring, strand, splash
If you enjoyed playing the other games I suggested before Easter, feel free to continue playing them.

Pick one sound to practise every day and you’ll soon be flying!
This week girls, I’d love you to spend some time revising how to subtract across zero.
Try some sums on these pages – 5/6 every day would be great! Be careful now, you may not need to go next door every time. If you scroll down to the end of the page, you'll see another page with the answers. Only check to see if you're right after you've given the sums a go yourself.
If you can't remember how to subtract across zero, look through these slides to remind yourself.
