Archaeo-Term

The main objective of the Archeo-Term project is to create a multilingual glossary for archaeology as part of the YourTerm CULT project. The project started with a collaboration with the Terminology Without Borders programme of the Terminology Coordination Unit (TermCoord) of the European Parliament's Directorate-General for Translation (DG TRAD). The first version of the multilingual glossary is the result of a process of extraction and consolidation of two thesauri (the Thesaurus for the definition of archaeological finds of the Central Institute for Cataloguing and Documentation - ICCD, and the Multilingual Thesaurus for Art and Architecture - ATT - of the Getty Museum), enriched with linguistic information, definitions, synonyms, and subdomains. Currently, the Archaeo-Term multilingual glossary contains terms in Italian, English, German, Spanish, and Dutch, and will be expanded to include French, Chinese, Russian, Polish, and Swedish. The project aims to contribute to improving access to archaeological data structured in different formats and languages.
