Operation Pegasus winds down

UA College of Medicine - Phoenix will be returning students to normal clinical rotations and as such, this student run organization, will be pivoting back into the clinical environment. It has been our extreme pleasure to assist the people of the Navajo, Hopi, Apache, and Zuni Nations, as well as the citizens of Gallup, NM, and the rural communities of Northern Arizona. We will continue to remain available to answer questions about how best to move supplies to these areas. If needed please contact Kevin Gochenour (kgochenour@email.arizona.edu) or Janell Tully (Janelltully@email.arizona.edu) for further information.

operation pegasus assists korean government & AZ korean association with donation to navajo Nation

The Covid-19 Student Services Corp - Operation Pegasus was contacted by the Attorney General of the Navajo Nation Doreen McPaul of a large mixed commodities donation that needed to get to the Navajo Reservation. Operation Pegasus launched into action and within 72 hours, working alongside Congressman Greg Stanton's office was able to coordinate with the Arizona National Guard & Gaurdian Air Transport to arrange storage and transfer of this large shipment. The Korean Consulate dispatched representatives from the Los Angles consulate office with 10,000 N95 masks which was combined with a donation of 3.9 tons (7821.1 lbs) of food, water, and hand sanitizer donated by the Arizona Korean Association. Deputy Consul General Hwang and President of the Arizona Korean Association Sun Jones along with many others were both on hand to oversee the collection of these donations at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix Biosciences Partnership Building loading dock. Over 20+ UA CSSC volunteers and faculty were on hand to assist in the unloading and transfer of these goods! The 10,000 N95 masks and a large quantity of hand sanitizer were then taken to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and loaded onto a Gaurdian Air Transport aircraft for immediate transfer to the Navajo Nation. Congressman Greg Stanton was at the airport along with the Korean delegation to assist in the transfer. The remaining supplies will be loaded onto AZ National Guard trucks on Tuesday May 26, at 0800 hours and driven to Window Rock, AZ for unloading.
