Program Descriptions:
Crisis Textline
This is a national organization of volunteer crisis counselors who assist individuals with mental health struggles, particularly depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and domestic abuse. The organization is currently in higher need of volunteers due to increased mental health concerns with COVID-19.
This opportunity involves volunteering on an individual basis
To get started, there is an application involving short essay questions, quiz questions, and at least 2 references
The training is 30 hours total which can either be done over 2 weeks or 6 weeks (all online, self-paced)
Please note: Minimum requirement of at least 4 hours/week for a total of at least 200 hours
Maricopa County Health Department Volunteers: COVID-19 Call Center
Interested students apply for and are accepted by the Maricopa County Health Department (MCDPH) volunteers. Volunteers supporting this initiative work in the Maricopa County Department of Public Health to answer calls to the county's COVID hotline.
Time Commitment: Minimum of one 4-hour shift
