InstaMed is a project created by medical students who are interested in offering interactive, virtual mini-medical school activities for high school students in Arizona. During this trying time, we want to continue to allow students to pursue their interest in medicine, and with a virtual platform, we are able to reach out to more students than ever before. Our goal is to inspire passion for healthcare careers through introducing high school students to a wide range of health-related topics.
Time Commitment: Minimum of 1 hour/week
*Graduate level health profession students only
Students who volunteer with this program will provide virtual medical activities (such as those done with Saturday Scrubs) for elementary and middle-school aged students around Arizona.
*Currently NOT accepting new volunteers
Available to all students
Students who volunteer with this program will help the children of healthcare workers and underserved communities through Zoom tutoring sessions. Sessions will be 1-2 hours and as frequent as determined by the volunteer and student/parent. The goal is to maintain the same tutor with the student in need as much as possible, with the idea of a continuing relationship conducive to individual learning styles. A range of subjects and ages from K-12 will be included, and become more specific as partnerships develop.
Time Commitment: Minimum of 1 hour/week
Graduate level health profession students only
Saturday Scrubs is a program run by medical students at UA COM-P for high school students to come to campus and experience a mini-medical school activity. For the COVID-19 pandemic, student volunteers converted this unique program to a virtual offering and to continue to interact with excited high school students. This event occurred on May 16, 2020.
