Hello,
I hope you are having a good semester. In case you don’t know me, my name is Christal, and I am an instructional designer in Online Learning. I'm writing to everyone who has a site in Blackboard that uses the Ultra interface. At the end of last semester, those using the Ultra interface received an email from Online Learning about how to make a letter grade column in your course. In the past, it was challenging to make more than one total column.
However, in January 2024, Anthology introduced a new feature that allows the creation of multiple grade display columns, which will make the creation of a letter grade column and a grade average column easier.
Please view the following "Ultra Gradebook Grade Columns" video explanation for steps to create grade display columns and important column setup considerations.
Basic steps to create an “Add Total Calculation” column.
Add a column in the gradebook and select “Add Total Calculation” option.
Name the column “Letter Grade” and set the grade schema to display the student’s grade as a Letter.
If any grades are being dropped in the course as set in the Overall Grade Column’s “Edit calculation rules,” then your new “Add Total Calculation” column will need to reflect those same dropped grade rules settings.
If you have excluded any grades in the Overall Grade Column, then you will also need to exclude them in any "Add Total Calculation" Columns you create.
Feel free to reply if you need additional support or information.
Thank you,
Christal

New Blackboard courses for Fall 2023 will automatically be added in Instructor Choice view. That means you will be able to choose whether to continue using Blackboard Original for your course or change it to Ultra to preview it. Don't worry--if you don't like Ultra, you can change it back! You can learn about Instructor Choice view in our Knowledge Base article "Using Instructor Choice view to preview Ultra."
Online Learning has added an Ultra Cheat Sheet to our Knowledge Base. You'll find links to information directly from Blackboard, as well as links to our own Ultra articles as we add them.
