"I worked at the Museo delle Civiltà this semester, which is a museum that holds many ethnographic and prehistory objects. In this position I worked with two different departments.
On Tuesdays I worked in the archives to help categorize ethnographic and prehistorical photographs. I also worked on a project where I helped digitalize documents for a project focusing on the Italian media's coverage of non-Italian and non-Western museums exhibitions and objects. I thought this was a very meaningful experience as it directly connects with my anthropological background. On Thursdays I worked in the restoration department where I digitalzied documents concerning the restoration of objects in the Asian collection.
To optimize my experience in the department I tried to form close relationships with my coworkers, I went out to lunch with them and spent time with them to gain more from the cultural experience. I did have good communication with my advisor, which allowed me to have a more meaningful experience as she taught me the workings of an Italian museum."
